Hello all. I am new to digital painting and this is my first real project I have started. I am having a hard time finishing this because I guess I don't know what I should put in the black areas and how to link things together, like how to make the arm look attached to the body. I think what's giving me a hard time about this painting is that I started from a black silhouette instead of a line drawing. Any ways any critique is welcome, just don't make me cry
One thing I know I have to work on is where the light hits his body.

The idea is to practice on simple shapes, and when you can shade them intuitively you can start combining those shapes into more complex forms.
