I have a cool book that has the best repros of JC Leyendecker's work. I have never seen the paintings as this book shows them. You can really get an idea of the process and technique, but as usual, there is nothing that special there. The shape design and drawing are unsurpassed. Not only are the shapes graphically well designed, but they tell so much about the form as well. There is a lot of simplification, but nothing important is left out. Take out what says nothing about the form, and design what is left.

Here is a link to an 800k scan of one of them

Oh, the book is:
American Illustrators Poster book
The J.C. Leyendecker Collection

No, that was a guy named Flagg. Could not hold a candle to JCL.
