I'm contemplating making a website for musicians looking for gigs/collaborations and bar owners to find bands and promote their venues.
I guess I need to buy some website template or script? But what am I looking for? I need something that combines the forums with a classifieds system. And also something simple enough that I can set up myself (I suck at programming). |

I suck at programming too but have made several basic pages/sites (one of them still quite popular). Content seems to matter more than site design/layout/complexity (lots of very fancy sites out there that are now abandoned). Maybe start with something basic (lots of free html editors available); if/when it's successful it'll evolve over time? Also/obviously Google helps spread the word, more so if you include relevant search terms/phrases like, 'where can I find a gig?', etc.
My thoughts.

Interesting...
"Joomla is an award-winning content management system (CMS), which enables you to build Web sites and powerful online applications. Many aspects, including its ease-of-use and extensibility, have made Joomla the most popular Web site software available. Best of all, Joomla is an open source solution that is freely available to everyone."

That Joomla joint looks interesting.
