Hello there!

I'm new at these forums and I want to share my work with you, to hear some new ideas or critique. I'm a student of informatics, so it's mainly about self-teaching and finding time to practise and learn (I do digital painting since 2008). I'd love to do some book cover work or card game illustrations one day (no matter how far this dream is right now).

I've chosen some of my artworks to show here. You can see more at my website http://ajinak.cz/en/ - I'll be glad if you come round Wink

Thanks for viewing this thread and giving your opinion!

Alena K.

Sorry if it maybe seemed too daring, just to register here and immediately ask for critique. Maybe I should have explained before, that all those works went through many corrections and reworking during those months and my art self-confidence still isn't as it perhaps should be. I've heard many great references about these forums, so I thought it would be helpfull to hear some opinion here. About colours, composition, any tip, whatever.. I try to learn hard and I'm really grateful for any kind of critique Wink

Welcome!

I had to wiki "informatics"... Embarassed

My amateur opinion:
1. wow, I hope you keep going (more works, more learning, etc.)
2. the cropped images in your home page (banner) are more effective than the larger images (in this page), ie. the 'composition' is better...

More thoughts if/when they come to me. Thanks for showing! Smile

3. "reworking" can become 'overworked'; too careful, etc. (I fight against that in my own work and see it as a product of me trying to catch-up too quickly...)
4. agreed, learning is a lot of work and takes a lot of time - again, I hope you keep going! Smile

durgldeep: to "informatics" - this might be my mistake as I'm not a native english speeker and maybe it doesn't mean exactly what I thought? Well, it's something like information systems, databases and so on (on the school of economics). Simply - unfortunately it has nothing to do with art Very Happy

Thanks for your comment! It gave me something to think about Wink You should be right about the composition.. and as I see now, it's also too often resembling to each other (similar poses etc.). 'Overworked' - yes, that's my common problem. It so hard to decide when to continue in work and when it's better to stop.. hopefully further practice will teach me Smile

Hehe, actually it was *me* not knowing the English word - Embarassed (again) - so I had to look it up: Wikipedia/Informatics. Very Happy

durgldeep: I meant that the word itself was right, but I wasn't sure if I used it in the right meaning for my case Wink that's what happens often to me - for example once I named my picture 'A pixie', but people quickly corrected me it was 'a gnome' Very Happy (I didn't notice there was a difference between meanings of those words)

Hey buddy, welcome to the forum Smile You have talent, keep plugging away. If you want to practice something, I see that you focus on figures, so study anatomy and figure drawing. Loomis books are a good place to start. Good luck, nice work!

Here we go again... Very Happy Anthony, I'm quite sure "buddy" is the wrong word - unless I'm wrong that "Alena" is female?

It's all so complicated! Wink

Anthony, thanks a lot, I appreciate your comment.. right now I'm focusing mostly on anatomy (as you have mentioned) and light, but there is so much to improve and so few time. But I love to learn new techniques and tricks and I hope I'll have something new to share soon.
I've seen Loomis books recently and I'm definitely going to purchase some of them..

durgldeep: Very Happy that's what I call a great observation! You're right..
