Hey everyone,

I'm brand new to this forum, just found it today, and was completely blown away with the amount of high caliber work! Amazing stuff, really.

I consider myself a traditional artist and have been painting and illustrating for roughly 7 years working primarily in watercolor, acrylic, and other various dry mediums.

A year ago I was introduced to the digital realm and took a class in painter. I've done several pieces with my tablet and such but I feel a disconnection between the sensation I get putting brush to canvas and the sensation of the stylus on the tablet. I'm curious to hear if anyone else has also felt the same way and how they overcame that.

Also in addition I'm interested in brushing up on some composition and color theory. Anyone have any good resources for that sorta stuff? Maybe even any brush libraries, texture libraries, websites or books, tutorials, things that inspire you?

Heyo. Not qualified to comment on the whole trad-digital transition because weirdly I'm going in the opposite direction. For me the tablet took a while to 'program' into my brain, after a few years using it I don't notice the disconnect any more.

There are loads of guys here who should be able to recommend things for you better than me (maybe they'll show up..)

However.

If you don't know it already a good place to investigate is http://www.conceptart.org/forums/ They have all sorts of digital art resources, even tutorial vids for a small fee, although the useful stuff is kind of scattered around.

A good royalty-free texture library is http://www.cgtextures.com/

If you want to see the real possibilities of digital art check out the websites of some of the guys posting here. Cicinimo's site - http://www.artpad.org/ - also has links to a lot of art, I've found, some digital, some not, but it's all inspiring.
