Fantasy and Sci-Fi movies of the 80s had a great impact on my youth and cemented my love for fantasy art. To pay homage to these movies I embarked on a small quest to produce 5 matte paintings inspired by these. I'm halfway through and it has been great fun until now.
This one was inspired by one of my most beloved movies...Willow.

Looks just about seamless. The only part that's catching my eye are the lapping waves on the surface of the water just before the crest of the waterfall. The edges are a little too hard, they're not really meshing with the rest of the piece. Also, now that I'm nitpicking, maybe the way the face of the castle transitions into the bushes at the base feels a little artificial. Not sure exactly what it is but the shadows look a little off. Nothing severe though. Great work overall. |

If I'm being critical, it feels like the castle is wider at the top than the bottom. This might be an optical illusion, but I think that correct perspective would have the castle slightly thinner at the top than the bottom. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |
