Hello all,

As I have become more confident in artwork over the years, I've finally come to the point where I would be happy to actually hang some of it in my home (or someone else's home, etc). I've done prints from Kinkos on very nice quality paper before with good results - but I'd really like to hear if anyone has some tips on where to go for prints of their digital art.

I'm also very interested in a stretched canvas style print. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Ive been doing some experimenting over some time and tried various things. Canvas printing is interesting but a little degrading IMO (why didnt you just paint it with oils to start with if youre using canvas).
I think the best thing Ive found is lightjet printing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LightJet , where you take a digital file and its developed on photo paper the traditional way. Its a bit expensive sometimes (depends a bit on the place) but i think its totally worth it. You can then take the photo and do anything you want with it, mounting it on a MDF or an aluminium plate for example.

This made me think - has anyone tried to make contact prints off a monitor? As in, put a piece of photo paper onto a monitor, turn the backlight on for 10-20 secs, whatever the right amount turns out to be, develop. I'm not suggesting it as a method of serious printing if you want clarity and faithful reproduction, but it might look interesting.

I want to be good at drawing more realistic things. I had a book on how to draw people, but it hasnt helped too much. It says that you have to look at the person and see the different parts of the body and break it down from there. But I dont understand how to do it. Do you know of any good books that I can read and do you have any tips to help me make a better drawing of a person?

If you are feeling kind of lost with drawing, try reading something like "Drawing on the right side of the brain" by Betty Edwards. Rather than teaching you specifically how to draw a specific thing like a person, it should enable you to learn how to perceive first then draw what you perceive and more.

P.S. You are also kind of lost in the wrong thread, try starting a new one which is more polite and more productive than hijacking someone else's thread with your own unrelated questions. You will definitely get more answers and help that way.
