wow it's really quiet in the forum nowadays, I like the edit in the second piece. There's something about the head though that takes away too much attention.

hmm I need to work on my english, not take away rather Take up I mean. Or perhaps takes too much attention. Well I'll be damned, how the hell do you say that anyway? Hopefully you know what I mean.

Nice piece. My only 2 cents would be to develop the foreground elements a bit more (sticks in the sand, rock, that spinal thing up front) a bit more to give the entire piece a sense of completion.

Which could be what Sometimes was getting at. The fact that the head has a much more finished feel than some of the environmental elements.

[edit]

man. looking some more, that's moody as hell. i like i!

it's the composition of the head that consumes attention, two ways to get around it. The head points outwards the picture, which makes focal point only to the head.
two quick overpaints since I got some time on my hands, nothing fancy.

Pet: I really like the creepy feeling you get of the Spider pic.

When it comes to the composition take a look at sometimes overpaints (especially the second one). Still great action in both drawings Smile

Keep it up!

CarlE, yea I think you know what they say about golden ratio, the action is supposed to come back into the picture, right?
The first overpaint bends that, perhaps dragon in upper right if you wanna follow rules. who does?

Thanks

Sometimes: I just wanted to keep the head in the top of the picture, over the watcher.

One more

Wow, great style overall. The only thing I would refine in the last one is the rein of the horse, just define it a little by making it more vivid and maybe less broad, right now it takes a little attention away from the rider and horse, like a gloria around the horses head.

Gj!!
