Hey guys, I hope i can get some specific help here, since all I got was a lot of guessing.. Guessing is welcome, but I'd love specific help haha.

So, I recently installed CS4 its running well and all, but it has screwed up the colors in both CS3 and PS7.. I will permanently switch over to cs4 if i get this problem over with, so the older versions doesn't matter.

When I paint, I never touch 100% black within the palette , but yet its coming out that way for anything that goes over 85-90 % black or so within my work.

After I have saved the piece, it looks really shit, and makes all value-fine-tuning worthless.

I have tried to adjust the color-profiles inside of photoshop with the color-management tools, and even though it changed some old cs3 .psd files over to looking as they should, it has not given me any warnings or other signs that suggest that the JPG have changed.

First problem *

I fill the Background in CS4 with 100% black, and the Canvas with the same % and this is the difference.



Second Problem* which is the most annoying.

it displays the difference in value before and after saving.



I hope someone knows how to help me with this. I've tried "preview with document color profile" in Save for Web. hmmmm

My Monitor is a 226bw samsung syncmaster , my graphiccard is a Nvidia Geforce 8800gts if that matters.

Looks like color profiling issue. I don't know how to correctly set up the profiles but I fixed my problems by setting windows and photoshop color profiles to srgb and proofing in photoshop to windows rgb.

thanks h2rra, I tried using one of the Preset color profiles and changing the proofing to what you suggested, the difference is now much smaller, and I think it now has to do with the compression of the JPG and not the colors / values themselves. I'm very thankful !

The *fill background* thing is still a mysterious, but it doesn't really bugg me that much.

hi brush9 check the image options inside which u find color balance & various options for images. try to make your canvas in cmyk mode. dont compress the image if u want to good results. all the best for future endeavors.
