heja.. this is what i was doing the last days.. its around 3 days (20 hours) of work.. would be interesting to hear if the professionals here think that this is a reasonable time for that kind of detail or if its still slow ?

raybender> you don't seize to impress and improve. This is awesome. I really love the design of the ship. Another thing i've noticed different and better in this piece is your technique. The only crit I have, I think, are that you should work on the guys a little bit more. Since they're one of the most important focal points of the painting, their proportion/detail somewhat feels neglected.
BUT, all in all- awesome work! _________________ http://www.annisnaeem.blogspot.com/ |

Very cool, Alex... I've found my next Desktop wallpaper.
It's great seeing the final version of the rough you showed earlier in the week. Any chance you kept the various versions and would be willing to share the process?
I'm very interested in how you worked out the perspective of the ship in freehand and it's design in general as this is one of my weakest areas and obviously one of your strongest. I could learn a lot from you!
I don't have any critiques, I almost wish I did so it doesn't seem like I'm constantly gushing over your work but I think this piece works extremely well the way it is.
Lastly, time spent on a piece depends on a lot of factors... namely the outlines and deadline given by the client and the type of job it is. _________________ http://neechart.blogspot.com/

awesome piece. the safety glass chickenwire on the ship windows is a nice touch.
[edit]
i'd say the time spent is pretty nominal if this was a cover piece. maybe a bit long for a concept piece but that all depends on the goal of the project and the time constraints. |

Slick work. Great lightning and design !
Maybe the right side (from the viewer point of view) "landing skid" could be more refined because now it's blending with the background giving the impression that the ship is kinda floating on that side. Not sure about it but that's the impression I get. Awesome work anyways, really cool to see how fast you are improving ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

Most awesome, mate! the design and rendering on the ship is phenomenal.
I also like the way you place the lens flare (not exactly sure if that's the right word) it's very effective. Is there an easy way of creating that effect in Photoshop?
The only critique I would give is probably on the two watch towers; they look closer to the viewer than the two characters would suggest...maybe you can use some fog on the ground to help pushing the gate and the walls further away from the characters, so the towers look they are in scale.
again, congrats on an awesome piece! thanks for sharing ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |
