thought, I'd post this one in a single thread (first time doing so actually!):
Done for the EOW at conceptart.org, topic being: 'the Abyss'
Pretty happy with it, 4 hours straight in PS, no reference

Very cool man, hope you win! I like the little dabs of color and that curving bridge or tunnel thing wins me over cause it looks like a giant mechanical dragon or snake |

Cool image!!
The sunstreaks at the bottom, coming in from the right should be more angeled though. Because of the warped fisheye and the perspective in general, they shoould be at least 20 degrees pointing downwards. Just what struck me when I saw it, and I wanted to note it.
Nice one!

thanks tons for the nice comment, guys!
Sukhoi: thx for the crit, I see what you mean, you're right! BTW, this was not curvilinear perspective, but a strong distorted rectilinear one...
Always hard to get it ALL right I guess |

Great stuff, fantastic perspective and values.
I'd like to see you use some tighter lines to make everything a bit crisper, maybe try using the line tool or the polygon lasso a bit more to create some true straights along the longer edges. Just a thought.
great work.

Very impressive, especially considering the time spent. The use of perspective and your composition is brilliant. |

thanks EAD, grawind, cgaddict, 3nasty!!
EAD: yeah, agreed! While I am usually a sucker for straight lines and accuracy, this was more of a study in style and drawing exploration I guess... Love the lasso tool!
3nasty: yeah, you're right. I am still very hesitent with vibrant color use. In fact, I'd rather always end up desaturating my paintings. I don't know why that is... good point! |

Very cool composition! Too bad that I don't have anything contructive saying for now, maybe that's great thing! _________________ www.pirkkaharvala.com
