Now that I have my new Nikon D200 and my newly released copy of the Maxwell Renderer V 1.0 I plan to make some fun images combining figure models I photograph and composite into what I hope will be photorealistic CG backgrounds.
The end result should be some kitschy, fun, kick-ass photos that don't take themselves too seriously.
Here is an early, early, early smooth plastic render, just to test the pipes.
When I'm done the flames will be weathered painted wood, like a set in a burlesque show or a carnival.
Here's a sneak peek. More to come.

Thanks! - I still have a fair amount of modeling and texturing to do; I'll update as I go along. |

Maxwell didn't seem up to the task for a while, but now that Maxwell 1.5 is out I have resumed my progress on this general area

2006? Dang! I set that whole project aside for a while....
but
-- same basic idea, only different image and subject matter.
Everything is CG but the model, (Apnea), and her corset below the breasts.
I'm ramping up for more. |

The CG figure is for shadows and knife blade reflections only.
I made the many random knife throw holes with one single sweep of a Photoshop scatter brush - I created a weight map and bump map from that.
I made an image of boards, then high pass filtered it to get wood grain detail. I used the 'Blend If...' function of Photoshop layers to push the darks of the high pass wood through an ArtRage-painted texture.
The script is from The Voynich Document (Google has info.) It has no further significance other than to be mysterious.
The thread on her corset has a single pixel wide very bright green edge. It is very unexpected, and visible only at a big zoom. I took a single pixel brush and added a similar effect to the spirals in the pasties for subliminal effect.
The silhouette edge of the yellow rim was a perfect cylinder. I chewed it up in Photoshop. |

Detail from a work in progress.
I like to add construction defects and unnecessary wires holding things...
If you know of any other examples of a classic crescent-shaped (not round) 'Man in the Moon' using a tiki motif I'd be curious to see it. I couldn't find any others. |

You should post in the finished, easy to miss this.
Pretty cool idea you got going here.
I feel though that in this latest that you should have made her sit on the carpet, the sign to the left takes up too much attention, could be all that blue??? maybe if the sign was only red??.....hmm?
keep going. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
