The previous thread kinda ran away with itself (in a good way). I didn't mean for it to be free advertising for, uh, anyone (the title's been hovering around the index). The original point was to inform people they might have an adequate drawing tool right under their nose, they might start drawing instead of only thinking about it, or thinking they need a certain 'kind' of software.
Moving along... here's the previous study, which turned out better than I thought possible, and blocking for a second.
Cat made off with the ox hair brush once already (that's why it's usually in a drawer - the brush, that is)... minor setback.

I like them.
I'd almost be tempted to say that the second one looks finished. It has a nice graphic style.
The top half of the first one doesn't work as well as the bottom half. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

Thanks Sumaleth. I see what you mean about the second one - I don't think I could stop if I tried. :) Anyhow I just convinced myself (by Sijun advice) to start using references so I'll maximize the lessons in that. I agree the first one can be improved but I'll rest it for a while...

I agree with suma's assessment, they really are graphically appealing. WHat program is it? |

The pencil holder arrangement didn't survive another kitty attack >laughs<, I'll set it up again later (Edit: maybe it was meant to be graphically appealing and leave it at that. I might do that.). Here's the latest (blocking), including a yellow shadow (red dotted line; defined by the nearby computer screen) amongst all the cooler ones. Somewhere in Sijun I read "warm light, cool shadows; cool light, warm shadows". This seems to be true in what I see... interesting this 'rule' can be reversed locally.

Did a few minor adjustments and I'll leave it at that, for now.

A piece of foam packing, useful for a perspective study (later).

Thanks Break Check - your lighthouse inspired me (re perspective stuff).
Values are arbitrary... still lots to learn. Possibly the crappiest jpg I've ever made. Edit: fixed jpg. |

Way Kewl!
That is so fine..I learn this stuff piecemeal..and it is nifty to see an entire illustration..plain and simple... of how all those pieces fit together..That helped me put some things together I had learned but didn't know how to utilize properly..
Thanks! |

LOL 3nasty - definitely retro for me too (high school shop class). Agreed digital is better than "dead tree" anything.
Speaking of 3D, has everyone seen Google Sketchup?
Brake Check, glad it's useful. Just to be clear it's two point (obvious before I deleted some lines/junk - likely still obvious to most folks, but anyhow):

Yeah..I know it is two point...
Thanks for sharing your learning and knowledge..my high school shop teacher ..I think if anyone gave him a pencil he would have eaten it..
I just started this..the chair is just an outline ...I have no idea of what the final form or composition will be..I might add things..delete things..I am thinking of turning the table a few degrees (that is what I saw in your drawing...When I get this all together..I can do a plan view like yours..set up a grid. and put everything into the alignment I want, so thanks)

Graphic for a friend's (read: acquaintance) home reno page. His first web page, which didn't happen after all. Either he chickened or he hated it?
