Someone mentioned in one of the threads they were surprised you can create vector drawings in photoshop. You can in MS Word too (if you don't mind a max export resolution of 1800x1800). Here's a sample (of my amateur experiments):

I saw that thread...I use a mouse ..but I don't recommend it...Better to learn traditional methods..The mouse is very clunky and difficult to learn compared to pencil and paper..I learned the mouse because I couldn't draw with either pencil or mouse..Just Playing Around.. These were done in Corel PhotoPaint X3..The mouse response in that program is the best..except for Corel Designer and these are Not Vector..These are freehand quick sketches ..using installed "paint brushes"

Thanks Brake Check, and thanks for showing your stuff (I don't recall seeing it elsewhere)... I don't recommend a mouse either but it teaches patience - twice over! I retreat to vectors (and other 'basic' programs) whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed. I wonder if the brushes in Corel PhotoPaint include a 'spray can', as in MSPaint (or 'scattering' in PS, etc.):

This uses the left and right mouse buttons as dodge and burn tools (but at the 'raw pixel' level), foreground and background colours set to black and white. Rather than lines it's about values and maybe 'treating shapes as volumes' (v Rodin; being an outsider, I wouldn't really know). It's not easy to do (who would want that anyhow) but I think it's as close as we'll get to a mouse-friendly technique.

That is very interesting..
The problem I have with the "tools" is pencil shading is very difficult. That technique is very close..I will try it in PhotoPaint..
Painter has Great tools but...the mouse is behind the redraw...The lines don't show up until after they are made which makes it hard to control..and the curves tend to stick ..that is the worst control problem..as the lines then become straightened
Many people use the mouse and the graphics programs aren't keeping up with that at all..
I use the mouse as a pencil..to draw stuff and you haven't seen my stuff because my art is just that bad..and worse..I drew those little sketches with the mouse...and they are about what I can do with a real pencil..I don't have the raw talent..so I just do this for fun..

I enjoy the forum ..as a place to see great art being created..like visiting a studio ..
I need a chess set for a study in perspective so I am making one..No copyright hassles and it is fun to do..nothing special ..combination of vector and freehand..The horse/knight was freehand mostly

I tried what you said..I don't understand about the "right/left" mouse but then I was sides wiped and offtracked by water colors in Corel Painter..and I drew a bird..just using volumes..(the mouse works fine with the water colors) Not as good as yours ( I think it looks enough like a bird to be a bird..hmm?)
Thanks for the tip..I will keep trying that technique..see if I can figure it out..Finding the Water Colors was worth the time spent!

One Leaf..
No Green..I was experimenting with blending red yellow blue on the computer

I won't be on the computer for a while..I bought a pencil and paper and I am practicing with those..Actually I can draw better on the computer but then I can't draw very well at all..

Leaf Collector Two

I have luck improving my drawing by studying line art so I made this from a personal photograph. I can print the line art and keep it handy with my pencil and paper as reference material. (free hand mouse trace, not simple free hand)
Chinese art is a good source of complex but very clear line art for leaves

Brake Check, I'm glad you're posting here. Maybe you didn't notice my edit (in the "More vectors" topic): "The previous thread kinda ran away with itself (in a good way)," meaning this thread. By "I didn't mean for it to be free advertising for, uh, anyone" I meant free advertising for Microsoft (ie. "MS Word: vector maps" is the topic title). I didn't mean to suggest that you 'hijacked' the thread...

The moral of the story: Less words, more drawing? :)

I have been too busy lately to do anything but doodle with paper and pencil at odd moments..so I won't be posting much

There is a generation of children who do not have fancy programs and tablets..The art of the future may be artist trained in the use of mouse and msword..
