It's somewhat easier to get into games, but it really depends on where you're located and what your portfolio looks like. Games can pay a little less, but there's usually more work to go around.
You CAN make the transition from games to film , it's just a matter of biding your time until the right position opens up. You might have to take a chance on a young studio making their first film (which is what I did). And remember, there's broadcast animation too. You're in London, so I bet there are tons of little studios doing broadcast work.
I like working in film better than working in games, but some people go the other way. The thing I like about film is that the potential audience tends to be bigger, and you're making something that will last longer in the public eye. Lots of games are forgotten five years after they're released, but very few animated movies are. I think kids will always want to watch cartoons. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |
