I think the subject is very much ok, but I think that you might want to paint so that the picture becomes more interesting to the eye. this you could do by starting with a vanishing point, as if you would have painted the scene sitting more to the right of the sleeping person, and looking to the left, more along the lines of him and the walkway, adding perspective and depth.
and more detail and accurate figure with a more clear face would also add a lot.
