THanks you very much, I appreciate the compliments. Feel free to throw down some critiques...it helps me when making the second episodes and so forth.
We're really working to get this funded and are talking to a whole bunch of Japanese ANimation studios to help with the work...but I have to have a solid broadcast quality show in order to do that and when it comes to animation, it has to be 10x better than TV or no one will even consider it for funding...kinda sucks but I try not to worry about it : ) |

Wow. Really, REALLY well done. The atmosphere and color you have going are stunning.
If I was going to crit anything, I'd say that the line quality of the characters is possibly a bit on the thin side. Maybe that's the intention, but I think that the characters would pop a bit more if there was a bit more emotion in the line.
Saying that, I don't want to detract from the fact that I think this is an absolutely amazing achievement.
Keep us informed when you release the DVD. I'd like to buy me a copy of that! |

Yes, that's a pretty amazing achievement. There are some really atmospheric scenes in there.
Personally, I haven't been able to watch it all the way through. The first time I might have lasted a minute, and the second time about 4 minutes. It's just too slow for me. I'd like to take an editor to it and only linger on the occasional shot, not every shot.
(but seriously, the editing rule of thumb is usually to cut away once the point of the shot has been made -- I know that anime doesn't follow this strictly, but you still need to find that drive from one shot to the next to keep the audience watching)
It also has too much incidental dialogue for me. By that I mean the sort of dialogue that carries little or no story, so for example "I'm home" "where is everybody" etc. There's not much dialogue in the first 4 minutes that carries any great meaning or story, so it's kinda like a slow slideshow.
I wouldn't have said all that if you hadn't specifically asked for crits, so hopefully that'll give you some ideas. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

as the others said, i think the enviroments and the mood of the scenes are really cool.
i agree with sumaleth and jimmyjimjim on the crits though.
i would love to see some varying line width, perhaps that's hard in flash?
keep the good work up, and good luck with the funding! |

Thanks for all the feedback guys, certainly taking it to heart. Concerning the line width, don;t know that's something that is feasable but...we are talking to some japanese animation studios so...they draw things by hand still and do the scanning thing so...I guess we'll see.
This all drawn with a mouse, as oppsed to using the brush tool which uses ink. The mouse version allows me to edit the lines easier for adjustments or whatever...the ink means nearly the entire pic has to be redrawn...that's what i had to do on the coke commercial. Very painstaking and slow for my process.
Thanks for the crit on the incidental dialogue. The tough part of the show is making it understandable by wide audiences, such as my 7 year old nephew who wants to know what going on as much as...well more astute individuals. It's a tough balance and yeah, a turn off to certain audiences, which makes it a gamble when you do it. Nonetheless though I am satisfied with it and the next one will have a very quick opening as compared to this one where I ws sort of substantiating the universe and such.
Anyways thanks again guys, glad you liked it. It was a pretty intense project from start to finish but...I've already begun ep 2 which will be far simpler and faster than the first, first is always the hardest...so for those who did enjoy the show, I hope you will watch the next episode : )
