Take everything I write here as an uneducated opinion. My observations are based off of my taste and limited personal experience rather than an in depth technical understanding of painting.

Can you link to the original photo? It would be easier to make technical critiques that way.

My favorite aspect of this piece is the background. It has an impressionist quality to it. Specifically I like how you rendered the lens blur and the reflections on the floor.

The pallet seems a little mono chromatic which may be due the original image but even if the scene was shot with a heavy filter I doubt that the color space would be as limited as the painting.

Over all I really like the style. Your work might benefit from more variation in brush stroke size.

Thank you for the criticisms, and I do agree. I'm definately struggling with getting down a broad enough color range (sorry, don't know the technical terms), and, in fact, the original drawing was much darker and low-contrast - this version is the result of some color balancing, which I thought added more life. As far as using a variety of brushes, I would very much love to find more variety, but, so far, I'm struggling to figure out that technique (no matter how thoroughly I study Craig Mullins-esque drawings). Anyway, thank you for the comments, and I'll attempt to improve with my next one. Here's the original photo:
