There are two main disciplines in 3d art which overlap- artists and tech guys. That's a generalization, of course. Artists are frequently technical, and many tech guys do artistic stuff, but basically you can go one way or the other. If you're wanting to be a tech guy (work on shaders, render engines, and other tools) then you seem to be on the right track. I'm afraid I don't know what your next step should be, though.

If you're more interested in the art side (modeling, animation, textures... you know, art stuff) then you've got a whole lot of work ahead of you. I don't mean to discourage you, but you need to learn art theory in addition to learning how to use a 3d program. Most schools will make you study that stuff before you move on to 3d.

I have no idea what schools are in your area, but your best bet for finding out what they offer and require is a good old Google search.

I'm pretty sure you just set a Sijun record for reposting. Smile

I don't know of any good online school to teach you art, I'm afraid. If at all possible, it would be wise to move close to whatever school you think would be best for you. In the 3d industry, you'll almost certainly have to move around a bit to find work anyway.

Since you already have a degree, I suggest you consider studying art and animation on your own for a while. The only reason you would need a masters for 3d animation is to teach it. Obviously, if that's your goal then get right into school. Otherwise, I'd spend some time getting into art and making sure that it's what you want to do. The worst case scenario would be that 6 months from now, you end up with some saved money and a head start on your classmates.

there is something weird going on with the forum software that makes it appear that an error is happening when a reply is submitted... so everytime you try to submit again, the reply gets repeated.... apparently amb is a persistant fellow... Laughing

The thing which is even more weird is that amb made 14 posts,...his post count is 5 tho. lol

Aside from that: @amb: I'd recommend you to get more information about this whole animation/art thing you want to study before you go for it. Browse the net. There are many resources. CgTalk.com should give you an insight. Good luck!
