Critique is appreciated.

Nice work Brian!

Few crits about the pose, it's correct as it is but I would like to see a bit more of dynamic arcs there.. meaning don't change the pose, just adjust how the limbs curve. Kinda like how you did the facial expression. Check how roundish the leg arcs are in this image http://www.dancespirit.com/images/backissues/april03/ballet.jpg

Be sure to post the finished version, I wanna see that too Smile

Much thanks Timo. Unfortunately it's a little too late to change the pose much, but I can see what you're getting at. I was aiming more for "spunky and mischievious" than "elegant and graceful", though.

Here's tonight's work. Mostly concentrated on the near leg and her wings:

Trying to contact the ghost of Elvgren, but with little success.

Here's my "final candidate". Client hasn't approved it yet:

edit: incidentally, this is the first piece I've done start-to-finish on my convertible tablet PC. Working at 1024x768 took a little getting used to, but ultimately, I only needed my desktop machine when it came time to do some final color-correction (my tablet's display tends to under-saturate).

love the hair the pose the wings
what i dont like is the color of the clothing.....it looks like she bought it at the dollar store simply because of the color. it looks like shiney cheap halloween costume. maybe i just dont like the color. also the left toe is too pointy even for a pixie compared the the right leg.

overall i really like it its ...punchy.and also your clothing has such nice shading that its the color that ruines it for me only. nice

Nice one. I like how you have accomplished that satin look.
Only thing that actually is bothering me, are her back leg. The proportions aren't quite the same that in her front leg.
But it happens. I have one painting that went to client, and nobody noticed how incredibly huge legs she had. Only when it was printed on the side of a truck, it really showed. That is still bugging me that I didn't see the error. Rolling Eyes

Those TabletPCs seemes to have only crappy monitors. I hope someday someone will manufacture a good tabletPC for graphics use. Oh well, guess I'll just have to buy a cintiq someday Confused

I would like to see more variation in the color hues. The wings work really well. If you look at her wings, there are all sorts of colors in there: purples, pinks, greens, etc. Yet the eye reads them as being made of the same material. Her skin, hair and dress are all made up of tints and shades of the same hue. This flattens the rendering out a lot. If you look at the paintings of the Renaissance masters, you will see a lot of reds, blues, and greens in the skin tones, yet it all reads as the same fleshy color. The concept and attitude of the drawing are great!
