the colors used on that site alone is enough to discredit the source. However, let's not bash anyone's faith here.. |

These fools have nothing to do with the Bible or Christianity.
It's probably a joke (kind of like landoverbaptist.org) |

Well, I am inclined to think it's a joke, but it could very well not be. About 15 years ago and through the job I had at the time, I knew a warehouse manager that was a very devout Christian man, and I recall a discussion we had on creationism; he firmly maintained that the earth was 6000 years old and that carbon dating was flawed. He was very, very serious - so serious it was disturbing to me. There are people like that in the world; they believe the Bible is the infallable truth of the universe and guide to all law. _________________ - Tom Carter

No matter if that site is serious or not, as Gort said, there are certainly people like that out there. I bet you'd be surprised about how many and just how convinced they are of their beliefs. |

Good point and relative to the birth of the Chruch of the Flying Spaghetti Monster; it was created as a satirical criticism to the concept of "intelligent design".

Heh, found this from Richarddawkins.net. I almost choked when I got to: "He then refers to a Web site, www.fixedearth.com, that contains a model bill for state Legislatures to pass to attack instruction on evolution as an unconstitutional establishment of religion."
So.. I guess it IS serious.. |

Having tottered through this load of twaddle, I am virtually speechless. And this is from the Land of the Free and the world's only superpower. Persevere (it's not easy) until you get to the bit about holding the feet of unbelievers in the fire in brotherly love until they admit the error of their ways, and agree that the earth is stationary, Genesis is absolutely right etc. etc. _________________ http://godisimaginary.com |

One thing stays the same though. You can never verify something. People some years back were pretty sure that the eart was flat. Today we know it's spheric. Tomorrow we willknow it's...I dunno....cubic? I am the last one who states he knows the absolute truth...however I am also aware of Occam's razor which if you consider it makes an argument as stated from these people dubious. |

Interesting point Max. I often wonder what level of intelligent perception we're currently at, and how will it be judged in say, a thousand years? How will we perceive things about the past in the future? How will our future be? Will our intelligence evolve? Consciousness? We've come so far, but I have this feeling inside that we know so little about our universe. _________________ - Tom Carter

I feel the same way Gort. We aren't at the end. Therfore it's imho also kind of ignorant to say these guys aren't right about what the say while believing to be the keeper of the truth saying so. Yes, their theory might sounds stupid (well, it really does as I said before,...). However, if I think about it again, i don't know what sounds more stupid,...earth being center of the universe or not. Earth being spheric or cubic, maybe hollow? Seriously, can you tell? (at least reading abit about quantum theory should give you enough to think about how untrue your truth can be)
At the same time these (yes, the're weird) people are ignorant if they talk about their theory being absolute true. You can never be sure. You can believe in what you want to believe however you should keep an awareness of the posibility that what you believe in could be wrong and what others believe in COULD be right no matter how stupid it sounds. Who believed all those creative geniuses when they talked about their new theories the first time? Nearly no one. Why? Because people are alyways VERY careful and diffident concerning new cognitions. That's a good thing tho. We'd have blown ourselves away if we weren't.
Now please do not missunderstand me. What these people say sounds very untrue. I think it's nonsense. Am I sure about it? No! However I believe in what most people believe in because it makes sense. But I am aware that it isn't the truth, might never be. Who cares. Earth is cubic. |

Earth is a sphere, and I'm positive 100%
I dont mind taking a stand on things like a sphere earth, if I'm proved wrong later then fine. I'll admit I was wrong. I think we can have absolute opinions based on current knowledge. No need to worry about the future and hedge our talk now on the possibility that the facts may change.

Honestly, the idea that the earth moves does not need defending against this crap. From what I read, these people put forward no evidence whatsoever that it the earth is stationary, and such an extraordinary claim would certainly require some proof. All they can do is make unverifiable sensationalist conspiracy claims and quote the bible. |

Eh.. misquote the bible or quote it entirely out of context.
The bible might emphasize the importance of Earth in the grand scheme of things but nowhere does it hint that the earth is stationary nor do things revolve around it. (except the moon) Anyone who quotes scripture that seems to say so is using that scripture out of context.
There is a spot in the bible that says "David killed his ten thousands..." and another spot that says "...Go and do thou likewise". Some people might take these two very different parts of scripture, slap them together and use that as a basis to commit mass murder however taken in context these two verses have nothing to do with one another.
These people are nutty and their knowledge of scripture is *very* limited at best.
not an attack on you Affected, just want to clarify what seems (hopefully) obvious. |
