Hello all. I am currently working on a student short film. The film is about a guy trying to get to the top of this mountain which is made out of people (dont want to give any more of it away lol). These images are done myself and friend.

These first two images are a couple of concept pieces, the second one testing out a colour scheme.

These are tests for what backgrounds might look like they are going to be quite flatly coloured as we simply don't have the time do do very detailed paintings.

I'm mainly looking for advice on colour. For those that are interested the film is going to be a combination of 2D and 3D

WOW. but,..can your computer handle a scene with like...10 000 animated people? And,...how do youa ctually animate this? Massive?
I have to see the finished short. Looks great so far!

Thanks for the replies guys, I really appreciate your comments. The film is going to be somewhat of a compromise because it would be impossible to animate all those people (unless we had massive which we've often joked about). So, most of the backgrounds are going to be fairly static with selected characters animated. It's still going to be a ton of work though. I know I said I didn't want to give too much away but I decided I would really like some sijuners opinions on our animatic so here it is. Its just under 16 megs, it has audio but it came out pretty quiet so you might want to turn up your sound a bit. If you have any trouble downloading the file please let me know. Cheers!

Well done! It's amazing hom much depths you can achieve with 2d elements.

The following are some designs done by my friend for the god like being at the top of the mountain. Personally the problem I had with the third one (with all the teeth) is that is looks far from benevolent which would make the runner as we like to call him seem a bit stupid. We both like the first design but felt it lacked personality which is why the eyes were added. We would really appreciate any comments you guys have!

Nice concepts! The first one is indeed interesting. I just wonder how you gonna model this. Z brush? Looks very difficult : )

My friend Stuart who did most of the concept design is a big fan of Carlos, I really like his work too.

One of our tutors made a suggestion that our "arbiter"(the god thing thats sits atop the mountain) design doesnt contrast much with the crazy mutants that cover the mountain. It is a fair point but as I have spent all term modelling the thing its a bit of a blow, its unfortunate they decided to go through all our films when we only have bout 6 weeks left! We are considering making some changes to the design, such as making it look quite ancient and maybe using a less "fleshy" texture, I would love to hear anyones opinions on this.
