French digital painter Cali Rezo's website mostly in French with some English. The "making of" section is great - some animations of painting steps.

Great brushwork, but these look like very strict copies of photos... She admits to using photo ref, but I'd like to see her use a little more imagination, she's clearly got the skill for it. |

Agreed but picture referencing might be her thing. As a matter of fact we all directly or indirectly refer to pictures at one point. Norman Rockwell was a huge direct picture reference painter; he was known to project slides of his subject(s) on the canvas for establishing line and staging.
Anyhoo it's the fact Cali utilizes digital tools and the process therein that counts.
By the way, Happy New Year. _________________ - Tom Carter

Agreed Tom... There certainly is a solid sense of composition and structure.
It does appear that she uses the displacement filtering function in Photoshop quite a bit. It is a very useful filtering device for scattering shapes and edges.. _________________ HonePie.com

thanks for sharing. i especially like some of the klimt series. the 2nd one for example is great.
also the flash clips show what a good blockin should look like. i think its funny how
much she works the traditional way with a digital medium. |

i loved those works..... my entire painting process for pinup is based off copying a picture....... i use the entire photo throught the paint process to get things perfect. photo traced blah blah shut up and draw me a gorgeous woman 11x17 inches 300dpi. everything on my work is painted...people get bitchy with me because it looks too real...hell yes cause i used a REAL photo to paint from.
but yeah that artist u posted has some really rich deep paintings i love it |
