Some of you might remember the first Sijun Challange themed "Alien Ruins" we did last year.

I wondered if anyone would be interested in joining the second run. ?
Last year we had about 8 people challenching each other.
Maybe this year more would like to join. I really don't know, therfore I ask before any further actions.

The rules would be as simple as last year.
A theme will be picked. Time will be 2 or even 3 months, people will decide. However we will have a deadline.
Any medium is allowed, you can show us your oil or penciling skills or hide behind pixels as long as you keep
clear about your workprogress (e.g. photomanip, overpaintings, reference etc).
Everyone is free to make a personal WIP thread to show a detailed progress if he/she wants which is always interesting and informative to follow.
There will be no real prizes however the winner is asked to offer constructive feedback on everyone else's submissions.

I just would like to know if there's some interest. At least 8 people should join I'd say.

I have plenty of ideas for themes, here's just some to get the ball rolling:

Anti Gravity, Beautiful Nemesis, The Sublime, Havoc Girl, Unfading Energy, Infinite Horizon,...

These topics are very open for interpretation. If you want something more specific please add more ideas as I am
sure you guys have many or just tell me if there's one you already like. We can discuss this here and pick the one everyone's happy with.

The discussion about the first Sijun Challenge can be found here.

Have a nice day!

I'd like to join in. 2 or 3 months is good.

All those suggestions sound good, but my preference would be Anti gravity.

I probably would join, unless the theme was something like 100% photorealistic portrait of a celebrity or something like that Razz

remembering what we were talking about on the speedpainting thread some time ago, maybe it would be nice, not to "merely" have a topic but try to illustrate some text, a short story or poem of some sort...? - just a suggestion, i'll try to join either way if i have some time.

Count me in.

retro has a good point suggesting a poem-based contest. Although I'm totally having a crush on "Infinite Horizon" (Reading too much Space Opera *sigh*).

Other than that, let's make it happen.

Alright, sounds good so far.

The poem thing is great. Maybe we should pic a theme and someone writes a poem concerning this theme. I am not good enough in english to come up with a nice poem or story. I am sure there are some writers around here. Anyone? We'd aprecciate it!

Of course newbies are allowed!

Now let's see if there are more people interested in this. C'mon guys, don't be shy!

Personally I like the stuff you mentioned and think we should take one of those before we go crazy coming up with some poem that sounds artifically artsy and lame in the end anyways.

I like the anti-gravity topic, personally. Maybe "weightless" would be better though, since it would let people do something other than science fiction.

"Anti-gravity" implies technology, whereas you could go in a lot of different directions with "weightless."

Wonderful! I am glad there's enough people to get this working.

ecsdesign: nice to have a matteartist on board ; )
Balistic: Yay, It'll be a pleassure
Maybe it works this time Capt. Fred ; )

Okay. I'll create the thread in the Gallery section as soon as we are clear about theme and time!

I like Anti Gravity too. That makes us three so far. If noone has anything against it we'll take it. I think there's lot's of interpretations possible on this not only scifi related. However "weightless" sounds nice too.

Alright. Last question: Do you guys prefer "Anti Gravity" or "Weightless", AND, do wou wanna have 2 or 3 months to finish your pice of art?

That should be it. As soon as we decided these few things I'll create a thread. Everybody who wasn't quite sure so far is still free to join. The more the better.

Cheers! Very Happy

"Anti Gravity" sounds cool. Weightless is a lot more open. So I'd vote "Weightless", even though I'll make something sci-fi anyway.

2 months on my side. I have a bad feeling about a quarter year of working on a single picture.

Weightless is good.

I think 2 months is enough. 3 months is a bit ominous.

Max, write up a first-post for it in the Gallery forum and I'll sticky it. Would be good to see the images develop right from ideas to the final picture, rather than just see the completed images in a couple of months.

Okay guys! Our topic is "weightless" and time is 2 months.

I'll do that Sumaleth! Maybe we can do it like last time. A thread for the Challange info in Gellery section where people can also post their progress images and discuss. Everyone is still free to make his/her own WIP thread in the WIP section. I think that might work. And 2 weeks before deadline people can start to submit their work.

Not sure about the voting system yet. Capt. Fred made a website for that last time. We can use polls too maybe. We've got enough time to think about that.
