Hi,
I'm looking for a certain tutorial and I hope that anybody could help me.
I saw it a while ago but i can't find it anymore.
It described how to get a structure sample into the painting.
The motive was a some kind of garage with a mech or something like that in it.
The walls were orange and grey.
I now this is a little sketchy, but I hope that anyone can help!
Thank you

No thats not the one i meant, but thanks man.
I made a really quick sketch just for the perspective.
This is probably far off
This guy described how to copy a foto of a structure into the painting
Like that (Picture from Nalfar)

No you didn't get me right
He described how to use a foto of a structure like that one
to make a painting look a little more crunchy, like yours.

Just copy the texture with CTRL+C, paste it into your painting file with CTRL+V, transform it with perspective in mind with CTRL+T, set the layers opacity to something under 50% and maybe set the blending mode to overlay. That's all you need, isn't it?
EDIT: Nice pic, Naglfar. Love it. Would you mind showing us the 3d-model? |

Yeah that works pretty good, thanks!
Do you use Hue/Saturation to set the color? |

You can set colors with a lot of different methods.
Hue/Saturation (CRTL+U), which is "okay", but not a non plus ultra.
Levels (CTRL+L), just pull the handles of the different channels. More control. When overlaying textures, pull the blacks and whites in the Master-controls towards the middle to receive a higher contrast.
Color-Balance (don't know the shortcut), which is cool if you want to set different colors for high, middle and low values. |

Wow, nice painting. It's always a shame when such good guys don't post anymore. BTW, I don't know if I've overlooked a nick-change or something, but what about Spinefinger? His site hasn't been updated since 2001 and I'm missing the coffeeshop-doodles... |

Sure, heres the 3d model I used for a base.
Also a very efficient way to build up texture is to make a texture brush. I use these quite a lot. Just select some texture you want to use as a brush and define it as a pattern. Then go into the brush options and there into texture and there you can define the texture (pattern) you want to have overlayed/substracted/multyplied etc. into the brush. |
