Nintendo's is the only one that interests me. It reminds me a lot of the Dreamcast . . . cheap, innovative, fun . . . and it's even got a stupid name ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

I'd like the Nintendo. But I've gotta upgrade my PC in 2007 first to play Crysis. Oh man oh man. |

Without question a Wii. And plenty of the games they announced so far. Metroid Prime 3? That alone forces me to buy one. Also the new Zelda of course, but I'm actually rather excited about the new titles like ExciteTruck and especially Project H.A.M.M.E.R. Mario Galaxy looks sweet and if Red Steel keeps its promise it's a go too.
Most important of all though: Super Smash Brothers f*kin Brawl. I'm so looking forward to battle it out online.
God I need money. |

I'll probably end up getting all three. I just bought a Playstation 2 last week to finish up this generation, although I'm apparently 5 years late.
But I'll start with the Wii (that name becomes more and more pleasant everytime you say it), since it's the only one that won't require me to buy a HDtv. I'll probably wait a year or two for prices to drop on everything else. (600 bucks for a PS3? pass.) _________________ QED, sort of. |

I have never owned a consol, but this year may be the first time I "come out to play". It's hard to compare Sony and Nintendo to the 360, because the 360 is the only thing I've played, and it's a real nice thing - so nice I'm compelled to get one.
But I can wait till the other stuff comes out, I suppose. _________________ - Tom Carter

It really depends on the games. My rule is to only buy a console if it's got at least 3 exclusive games that I'm dying to play. That's why I never bought a Gamecube, and am still debating on whether to get a PS2. I think by now the PS2 has enough exclusive games for me to want to get one--Ico, Virtua Fighter 4, and Resident Evil 4 (though not exclusive, but since I'm not getting a Gamecube...)
For the next-gen stuff, I think I'll hold out just like I did with the previous gen. I didn't get an Xbox till just a couple of years ago, and I didn't get a Dreamcast until it'd been out for a year. The N64 I got after the Dreamcast, and only because of Conkur's Bad Fur Day. I never owned a Playstation--I thought all the games looked like shit back then, except for MGS. |

Wii.
Only because I have the need to play Zelda.
I bought the GC for Wind Waker.
And the N64 for Ocarina of Time.
But I am odd like that. _________________

Don't worry. You're not alone.
I also have an urge to try out Red Steel. _________________ Heads you live

Wow.
Wii by a huge margin so far. I still think Revolution was a better name, tho.
Nintendo has always had me on board: NES, SNES, Gameboy, N64, Gamecube, and they've always been the innovator. I think people are finally tiring of GTA and looking for something more.
Sure, you can make fun of Virtual Boy, but it DID try to do something different. |

Lunatique: get a ps2; there are some great games out for it. I bought mine last week for the Metal Gear Solid 3 director's cut, but I'm going to buy Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Soul Calibur 3, Gran Turismo 4, MGS2 etc. And they're all dirt cheap now.
It's funny that everyone mentions Zelda as a reason for buying the Wii. Zelda stopped being compelling for me a long time ago, right around when I beat Wind Waker in around 15 hours. Honestly, there are other franchises (especially the stuff by Square Enix and the Elder Scrolls series) that offer more depth of content, better graphics and more innovative gameplay. _________________ QED, sort of. |

Yeah, but Zelda's just Zelda. It feels like Zelda and that's why I like it. The other ones don't.
I don't care how long it is or what it looks like because I can count on it to be a good experience.
From what I've played though I don't like the Elder Scrolls games though. Personal preference Although I admit it is fun to try to attack people you aren't supposed to and genereally cause mayhem but you can do that in Zelda too. Cuccos and throwing pigs off a cliff into the sea! (try it in the windwaker, it's hilarious... and our pig friends emerge unscathed.)
Fun and personal preference though, that's what it's all about. _________________ Heads you live

So not only are you saying better graphics are important, but you are saying Final Fantasy 25 is innovative? Each zelda has more diffrences to the next, then all of squares games.
It also doesnt matter how long a game is, fun is what matters, if lenght=fun, the yea Elder scrolls and Dragon quest would win. but thats not the case. I had the best time playing god of war and it took under 10 hours, but still worth every penny.
Im getting Wii first, and then choose my next system depending on what ever looks most best at the time (PS3 droped way down my list, Never thought Id want an xbox more then a playstation) _________________ Visit glitterbugs Secret Forum |

Yeah, my father got the xbox 360 for elder scrolls.
Its a good game, something that I really like, but I'll just borrow it later on when I have time to play it.
Zelda has always been my thing though. Not just beating the game, but completing it. ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) _________________

I'm not a Zelda fanboy. The only one I played so far for long is Wind Waker. (15 hours? you been on speed and rushed through it with all your might? wtf). I'm seriously disappointed about your reply though Mr. Impaler. It's one thing to say Zelda just doesn't do it for you, but comparing it to something like Elder Scrolls and mentioning better graphics, innovation and gameplay? W T F. I don't even want to start explaining myself here, caus it'd just ruin this thread and be a way too long reply. I have to say it again though. wtf? |

In about 2 years time PCs would've surpassed all that technology anyway. And all these consoles really won't be fully appreciated if you don't have a HDTV. Perhaps other than the Wii, which actually appeals to me most, Nintendo's whole package of concept, intention and execution. _________________ Derelict Studios|Godwin's Space |
