I went to New York to get my Chinese visa yesterday.
I dropped off application and had 3 hours to burn. I went up and down 42nd street (from one end to another) from Chinese consulate to some small basketball court overlooking Long Island. Then i went back to Atlantic City and back home.
Oh, and i also got my hair braided.
 42nd street east - almost no people
 compare the middle (broadway) to eastern edge of the same street.. "The Office" sign. I think British (original) is helluva better than American remake.
 notice the "Discover China" sign
 Broadway with MTV and everything.. i didnt have time to go there
 Atlantic City boardwalk - kinda deserted during off-season

Man, the speed at which you do things in your life is really starting to threaten my complacency. I mean, you posted that thread about airline tickets, what? A week ago? And now you're already getting your visa, and I'm sure you'll be in China by mid-May.
If I were doing the same thing, it would take me four months just to work up the courage to actually go to the consulate. Then it would take me two weeks to get my visa stamped and signed. Then I'd have to sit around for a year and save up the money, then I'd put everything off for another month to convince myself.. blah blah blah.
The point is, life is maddeningly short sometimes, and it's inspiring and invigorating to see someone actually do SOMETHING in realtime, like you.
Also.. American office:British Office::Family Guy:The Simpsons.
Oh, I went there with the X is to Y as A is to B SAT-format phrasing.

Impaler, what the hell you talkin' aboot? I wasted liek 8 years so far. The only reason i saved a lil' chunk of money is because i didn't DO anything for 8 years (besides working and playing games) hehe. So THERE! Now i figure it's time to do SOMETHING! I don't like to waste time anymore.. although it was nice while it lasted (Quake MegaTF times!! WOOHOO!!") |
