Bob>> LOL! you must think I'm such a nut! Looks like I need to research more about weapons before drawing them - This girl was copied from a little porcelain doll that I got in Japan, and the katana is held onto her with glue....Don't think she'd have a wad of glue on her side in real life eh Thank you for the info - will be looking at real reference for this, not just a doll.
Will Lull >> Thank you for the crit! I will be looking into that arm - perhaps I should take pictures of myself to see how the arm should look
Thanks for the feedback guys, I really appreciate it ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

She looks waaay short. Unless she's kneeling under all that cloth or something And her neck looks pretty long and shapeless in how it sits next to the hair.
Her sword, however, looks more like a tachi, in which case it is not upside down. It's being worn correctly(I assume it's oriented this way on your doll?).. but still is being held there by sheer mystery. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Bishop_Six - Yeah I was discussing the sword issue with my boyf, and we expect that it could be something other than a katana, like a tachi, otherwise my authentic lovely doll is wrong! But I had a majorly blonde moment in regards as to how its being held in place! My boyfriend also pointed it out, and all I could think was D'oh!
Also, methinks the addition of collarbones or something will add shape to the neck. Going to work on it with a mirror... |

You're right, it's not very curved, but I believe tachi tsuka tend to be shorter than your average Edo-period katana. Tachi were generally thought of as one-handed weapons.
BUT we're hijacking poor Visionspring's thread. Sorry, Visionspring ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

My only gripe is that the dress doesn't look quite flowy enough. It looks like it's made of something like wool as opposed to silk. I do, however, like how you did the pattern on her dress, and also your execution of her eyes, even though they seem a little large. |
