Hi everyone,

I've been poking around with digital art on my tablet for quite some time now and I'm wondering how some artists bring out the contrast so well in their airbrushing pieces.

I'm not talking about simply using the 'adjust contrast' features in most image-editing programs around, but rather if there are any other approaches to defining objects in art so they 'pop' out more.

Even though I have been using references and studying how other artists might go about enhancing contrast, I'm still finding it a tad difficult to improve. Sad

If anybody has any particularly helpful links or suggestions, they're much appreciated, thanks! Very Happy

Channels and curves. Study those two and experiment.

you could try what sweetums said, or you could do it the good ol' manual way by painting it all in. it'll teach you a lot more and give you your own style Smile

The answer you seek lies hidden in color theory. Lucky for you, there exists a shockingly comprehensive guide that can answer nearly any question you could come up with.

http://handprint.com/HP/WCL/wcolor.html

Some of the writing requires a post-grad degree to decipher (chromaticity? spectrophotometrically measurable color space?), but several of the articles are geared towards artists and photographers; start with the article on color temperature.

Impaler: Thanks for that link! (Painstakingly hard read so far Shocked)

Also with the suggestion about curves & channels, I think I might see pass that and keep having shots at painting the contrast in manually (and hopefully improve along the way).

Thanks again guys!
