I don't really like the different styles (the handdrawn with the Photoshopped photos). And not only in the art but the lettering. I'm assuming you're trying to give each character their own lettering style, so I'd suggest looking at DC Comics' Arkham Asylum, where Batman and every villain has their own distinct lettering style.
I'm also not digging how you've arranged the panels (with the arrows). I didn't notice the arrows at first and it looked like Action Greg ran out of bullets (that's what a non-firing gun with "click" usually means ).
Also, you need to reverse the last two word balloons so they read left to right. _________________ Freelance Illustration & Design | A Portrait of Envy |

I appreciate the feedback. Now what exactly have you posted? I thought maybe you had some work up since you know so much. But I couldn't find anything except comments. |

By gosh, you're right. The fact that he didn't post any artwork does indeed make yours look better. ![Rolling Eyes](images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif) |

indeed, indeed. you'll also notice a link to Exclamation's website, within his signature. you can find his artwork there.
acknowledging critiques and applying them to your work can help you progress.. so don't take it negatively, but embrace it. |

generally critiques are not started with "uh me duh no like it". Generally they start with, "hey nice start, but this is where I would improve on these."
Oh and I did check out the website, it was amazing, those three quarter views, top-notch. How about that critique? Do you think that it should be embraced?
Man I love it when instead of responding, people highlight the last few lines of a previous post as if no one can read the top few posts.
Drew: 408 posts and generally most of them involve you being a prick? What gives? |

.. right. from what i've gathered, the purpose of the 'Work in Progress' forum is for people to share their pieces with other members and allow those members to give them feedback. if you can't handle some feedback without trying to start an argument, don't share your pieces. so the guy didn't sugarcoat his post with a "good start!", big deal. perhaps he's just being straightforward. i'm very positive he wasn't aiming to directly insult you, but just to share his opinion. either way, you should try not to take it so personally. |

ditto... in reading Exclamation's comment, it seems straightforward and helpful.
VelkroBoy, I think you need to unstick yourself from yourself, step back, and have a contemplative look at what you see. _________________ HonePie.com

I am a new member here, and my art can use alot of work and refinement just like many other people here.
Putting your artwork on a 'work in progress' forum for people to comment is an open avenue for comments. If you are not ready to handle critisism, then perhaps design is not the feild for you.
The world of art is full of critisism. If you don't like what "Exclamation" has to say about your peice, BRUSH IT OFF! or better yet, take something from it! Even DiVinci had critics!!!
Not to rub it in even further, but I would have to agree, that your panels are quite hard to read, although it's a 'good start!' ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

Exclamation gave a helpful, constructive critique of the comic page you put up. The points he raised were pretty much the same things that struck me when I first saw the piece. Might want to keep that sarcasm in check before you completely alienate yourself.

If you need ego-massaging, Sijun definitely isn't the place to be. Avoid Eatpoo, ConceptArt, or CGTalk, too, for that matter. Maybe DeviantArt might be more your thing? |

If I had checked this thread earlier I'd probably say all the same things as everyone who backed me up... but not as nicely. Maybe.
If you didn't dig my critique then I'll just do you a favor and quietly stay clear from you, because that's how I am, up front and direct. As for my experience, while my comic career may not be as extensive as yours... I've been reading comics for around 15 years.
So at the least consider my critique as someone who wouldn't put down cash for the same points I made in my first post. _________________ Freelance Illustration & Design | A Portrait of Envy |
