Hey guys! So, I know that this is mostly a fine and digital art forum, but it looks like you guys are pretty into your environmental, vehicular and concept stuff, so I thought you may be interested in my work. Our flagship title Malcolm Magic features quite a lot of fairly detailed environments (for a comic!) and worlds and stuff, so I hope there's something here for you guys to enjoy, perhaps in a different (hopefully refreshing) style to the usual postings in here. I'll try to post weekly with relevent stuff for this type of forum.
All the best,
Lorenzo!
Here's a selection of the type of images I'll be posting....

Hey guys! Blimey! What a lot of really nice feedback from a lot of extremely talented guys! I'm amazed by this! Glad you all like the stuff, I was worried I'd be kicked out of this forum for being too "cartoony" but you folks have made me feel really welcome, so I'm gonna keep posting, and I hope you like the new stuff that's coming!
Just a few quick mentions:
First up, Neff! Thanks man, glad you like the style! I checked out YOUR SITE...amazing! Some of your speed painting knocks my stuff on it's a$$! Really great, hope to see you in here again pal!
Next, Anthony! Thanks, man! Glad you're getting the energy from the work, that's what I'm all about! There's some really cool stuff on YOUR SITE, including some great cars. I'll try to show some of my own vehicles in a future post, hope you like! See you here again soon, pal!
Annisahmad! Man, ULTRAVIOLENT looks soooo cool! Looking foward to seeing more of that, man! Thanks for your kind feedback! See you soon!
Finally, Ranath, thanks, man! I ink with all traditional metal dipping nibs, so I try to get a strong line style. It's great that you dig it!
Okay guys, more images later this week!

Hey guys!
Seth1, that's some really good advice, man, and I'm on it! I'm trying to improve my contrasts in the images all the time, so hopefully the new stuff I produce will reflect that change, and really help to draw focus in the panals and get that pop! More soon, pal! And hey, YOUR STUFF is awesome! I can't believe how good all you guys are at speed painting! I'm such a slow worker in comparrison!
And Mon, man? WOW. That's a great compliment from such an insanely talented guy like yourself! I'm sure mosty of the guys in here have seen your amazing work already, but when I looked around HERE I was just blown away! Absolutely fantastic! I LOVE all those dungeons and dragons! Anyway, thanks so much for coming in, I'll throw down some more stuff on Friday.

Very nice stuff Lorenzo. I like your fresh style. The detail is awesome.
It seems you put alot of work into your images. That's great!
My favourite pic is the first one with the trees. Very atmospheric!
I hope you will post more soon! |

Hey guys!
Hoho! That's some really cool feedback, guys!
Thanks Max! Yeah, my thinking is that you should take as much time on the interior work in a comic as you do on the cover. I hate those comics with great covers and really rushed interior work, it's so dissappointing! Went to YOUR SITE, man, LOVE it! Those city scapes are too cool! We've got a comic coming out internationally next year called MOON! which is a sci-fi space opera comedy...or something! ANYWAY it's got some enormous environment shots that I think you'll dig! In fact, every issue of the whole comic is just one huge sci-fi extravaganza! But more on that another time!
And Andromeda! Hoo-rah for you too, palski! Keep checking in, I'm lovin' your energy, friend!
So, I thought I'd post a few more Black and White shots today. I know it's boring compared to the colour stuff, but I thought you guys'd maybe like some of these!
More later in the week!
Lorenzo!

Hey guys! It's Friday, and it's about two weeks to Chrimbo, and I'm feelin' EX-TREMELY good what with all the yuletide cheer and roaring fires and stuff here at Blink Twice Manor.
So, before we launch into a forteen day state of uncontainable excitement at the coming festivities, here's one more slice o' Blink Twice B&W goodness from issue 7 this time!
Stay warm, folks, and get ready for news between now and Chrimbo of all the BT goodstuff coming your collective ways in the new year! Including the launch of our Web story!
Ooh!

Really nice! Linework and weight is superb, a touch too detailed overall for my eyes (heavy areas with lots of lines, a bit visually confusing at times) but as a stylistic choice it still works extremely well. The colours complement this busyness perfectly and really invite you into the shots. Love your work! |

Hey Ian! Thanks so much for your feedback, buddy! Looking foward to your site's launch! Is it all photography, or will there be some illustration on there too? Looks good, though! Yeah, I really enjoy producing the colour stuff, and I'm trying to improve all the time, lots more coming soon, like this...
More later in the week!

heh, yeh my website has been like that for ages... its a photo from a family holiday to New Zealand. The best photo I've ever taken I think. The location was fantastic, so photogenic... those curves of the river. An awesome place.
As for the website itself, no plans to actually do anyting with in the immediate future. I'm actually busy working on a different website of mine atm. |

Hey Ian! Thanks for coming back in, man! Good stuff! I look foward to seeing more of your work once it's up online! Come in here and let me know when you go live!
Okay, so as quite a few of you like the Triffic City pic at the start of this thread, I thought you might like to see a little 4-stage break down of the layers used to colour the piece. This isn't a tutorial, or anything like that, just a little pull-apart of the image elements for those who are interested. It shows just how simple it is, in fact! At the top you've got the pencilled image, followed by the same with my shadows layer, followed by the flat colours, finished off with the final composite image, with a few little bits of additional lighting for that extra hint of atmosphere!
Hope this is of interest to someone!
More on Friday!
Lorenzo!

CRAZY stuff man!
Very original and really great stuff!
Did you do anything on the scifi comic? Ill definatly get it!
My only feedback would be that there is so much going on in the lineart images that they are allmost hard to read the colors makes them easier to read and more harmonic.
The coloring is very nice but there is some room for improvements.
The easiest think I think is the color of the sky, which is a bit to greyish, it doesnt give me the magic fairytale feeling.
One would be intressting to see is if the light was comming from one side maybe with some secondary light from the other side.
I think it could bring out the volume better and make the images even more exciting than they are now. |

Hey Spline! Man, thank you so much for the tips and advice, seriously appreciated! Your comments are all spot on, and it looks like you've really taken the time to analyse the images, and I want to thank you for that! Very cool!
I'll work on ensuring the sky in future images harmonises better with the landscape, and you're totally right about a second light source, that really would help describe the objects better visually! I'm on it!
Hope you come back in again soon, man, your input is valued!

Hey, hey guys!
Well, its been a few days since Ive posted a new image, and that can only mean one thingerIve been lazy. But it's Christmas Eve morning, and I'm at my folks house, with a hot cup of Valor Cao and the warm hum of the hard drive fan. Geeze, I do love these forums! So it's a quick one today, as I drove across the country in my ole' 60's car yesterday, and my Dad's keen for me to take him out for a drive round the countryside in it!
So, sorry about my brief absence from posting your almost daily slices of SBT goodness, but Im back, and Chrimbos around the corner, so you just KNOW Ive got something special for ya! Here, for your yuletide delight, is the Blink Twice Dangmas Card! As you can see, it shows Malcolm, Hush, Pygmy and Kweet in a spot of yuletide bother, Hohoho!
I just wanted to say a huge MERRY DANGMAS to all you guys who have checked out this lumpy ole thread in 2005, I hope youve enjoyed these first steps into the weird and wonderful world of Blink Twice and that you stick with us for the impending delights of 2006! Between Chrimbo and New Year Ill be posting a few super-advance previews of stuff youll be seeing in the coming months, but for now, Id like to personally thank all the folks who have not only taken the time to check out our stuff, but to bother to leave a comment, crit of just some feedback
So a very special Merry Dangmas to the following thread-posting-good-guys-and-gals (in order of appearance!):
Eyewoo, PixelBrush, NeFF, Anthony, Annisahmad, Ranath, Seth1, Mon, Max kulich, Andromeda[*], Ian Jones, Spline and Hardcreation!
Thanks guys! Have a great one!
Lorenzo!

Hey Eyewoo! Yeah, Dangmas! You'll have to stick around to find out what that's all about! Thanks for stopping by man! So, just a quick one to confirm that yes, the images are all down at the moment, as the massive amount of traffic our site's getting from all the forum threads is just too much for our lil' ole' server, so we're changing over to a great big new monster! Bare with us though, and I'll come back in and let you all know when it's all back up!
Sorry!
Lorenzo! |
