So I got to this point, and I'm stuck.

I know that the fabric is two different materials on the two sides (left is cottony, right is silky), and I'll fix that...

And I know I want to have that piece of red in her hair...

But I don't know what to do with her hair otherwise, and I don't know what to do with the top right corner, and other comments on top of that would rock too. Thankies.

Tell us more about what the painting is? and what you want it to achieve? then we can make better comments about the concept and maybe a suggested direction.

Maybe that's one of its problems. I started without a real idea... I was just very sick and I wanted to sleep all the time. And when I wasn't sleeping, which was only like 6 hours out of the day, I was upset that I'd wasted all that time when I should have been productive. And originally, this picture was going to tie those things together.

But then I got better before the picture was finished.

So now it doesn't have an underlying concept or anything I want it to SAY. At this point, I just want to make a pretty picture. I'm relatively new at this photoshop painting thing, so there's also a bit of "I want to explore what I can do, so that I can be better at this" tied in there.

My advise is that if you want to explore things. Go and explore.
Don't ask us what you could do, just do it.
Look work from other artists, and look for photo references.
This might sound like I'm just repeating some overall whatever bullshit, that has been said too many times, but I really mean those things.
You could become better just by doing stuff from your imagination, but it takes a shitload of more time, than if you would monkey from reference photos, and expiriment with them.

But. About the painting.
This is a very good start, and yes. It's blue. I don't blame you, I kind of have inclination for blue too. Very Happy

One of my suggestions is that hair will still reflect a bit of light even if it's in deep shadow because, in reality hair is quiet reflective! ^_^ I suggest putting a few strands in that are lighter to give it a rounder image. Also, with that right hand corner? Perhaps you could put in a mirror to reflect somthing or maybe stone work just picking up hints of light?

Those are my suggestions! Stick to it and, indeed use your imagination!

Amilee - well, it looks a little different now. Smile I didn't repost because I don't think that I've made enough progress to repost, but given your hair comment, I will Smile

I really like this, it's very... comfy, content feeling to me and although you may have been sick when you began with it... seems ... relaxing and very dreamy.

Coming along nicely and the extra highlights/refelection in the hair definately helps...
