I discovered the wonders of the boyfriend's graphics tablet yesterday. Spent the better part of today working on this:
It's not nearly as good as I want it, but okay for a first attempt I suppose. Any pointers people could give would be greatly appreciated ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

I'm not really that great of an artist, but if you agree with what i'm saying maybe i can give you some pointers for this piece.
I know, for me, the origional tendancy was to smudge everything. In the face and coat, it looks like you are doing the same. Sharpen the image, I'd say. The nose looks especially blurry to me. Also, it looks like he has eye makeup on. The bottom lid will have a highlight on it usually. Also try for more highlights in the eyebrows; right now they look sketched in. His beard looks very square. Try rounding it off a bit at the bottom, kind of like how the chin is.
I hope to see furthur progress on this piece! Aren't tablets great? ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

Okay, yeah, I think I see what you mean. This is the pic I was working from
- I added more detail with the coat [it's actually the only bit I'm truly happy with ]. I couldn't quite get his face and the eyes did indeed pose something of a problem for me. I'll sharpen things up a little, see how that pans out.
And yes, tablets are awesome! I'm so very in love with it. |
