Yes, I'm surprised myself. After not having painted my own stuff for I guess the last three years, I'm going at it again. And like when you're starting an old engine, a lot of soot and crap comes out of the exhaust. Consider this the soot and crap. Design is minimal, it was really more about getting into things again.
As you can see I'm rusty. Thanks for looking.

Photoshop. Original res 2.5K square.

detail:

there might be more on the way.

Yeah, it's been a long time man!

I like it!! Except the red robot in the whacky plane, hahaha! No seriously, the finish is very nice, especially the smoke from the kill and the smeared oil.

I expect more!! Smile

Great to see you posting again Peter!! Even if the painting looks a bit rusty it's still got some sweet detailing going on, and I love that falling plane/smoke trail!

Hey Loki are you on vacation or just finally got a bit less work so you can do paintings in your free time again? The picture is quite not so rusty I'd say, apart from the lighting everything looks in place to me. Very much looking forward to the stuff you consider shiny. Smile

I just hope you keep painting and not abandon it for a life of unlimited sexual adventures, now that you got the manual for that out of the flirtatious girlfriend thread.

Hey thanks guys! Rusty rusty ...

Sumaleth: thanks! I'll see what I can do. Maybe I can do that. The server where my homepage was on got hacked badly and went offline forever after that. I need to set up something to host my images - we'll see - I've got a few things to show.

Glitter: hey! Smile I'm on a long vacation. I'm currently in New Zealand and haven't been working until December last year. I was totally from having worked almost non-stop for the last 11 years. Of course I had 2-3 weeks vacations here and there - but I never really took a break.
So I decided to do *nothing* for a while and as I was hoping, my creative juices are slowly reflowing. I haven't been painting anything for so long and it drove me crazy - hopefully I can return and do my own stuff again and have some FUN. Which I haven't had for a while.

What irks you about the lighting, glitter? I suspected it has problems but maybe you can tell what it is so I can avoid the mistake next time.

Anyway - thank you so much for the nice comments it feels like coming home Wink

Whoa man. Long time no see, etc. Cool piece, that guy is funny. I think his car needs a wash.

I'm not entirely sure but I think what strikes me as odd about the lighting is that there are too few (strong) shadows. Especially where parts hit together or at harsh edges. Thats pretty much the only way I can explain it a bit I think, not sure if that helps you at all.

Nice to see you here Loki. Been some time,...
Great artwork!! It's very different to your usual stuff.
The detail is really stunning. Your smoke effect is still brilliant.

What you still need is as gLitterbug also mentioned more contrast between light and shadow.
Some dark parts here and there would do the trick. At the moment it looks kinda flat.
It isn't that important though. It's a wonderful image.

I hope we will see more stuff from you since you have more time now.
Another "stranded" pic maybe? : )
