Hello everyone, I guess it's time to post some of my work, since I've been lurking since 2001 like a dumbass (hah).

I've decided to start the creation of a graphic novel centered around the ancient Middle East (with a lot of room for artistic liscense). This involves Sumer, Babylon, Elam, Canaan, etc.

I guess It's an original idea since I haven't come across something similar lying around. I do plan on relating it the present day, but it will have fantasy elements to it; or what may seem like fantasy. Anyways, enough with my ramblings... here's some concept art for it, and direct links to different galleries at bottom of post:



























So anyways, there's a lot more artwork on my website if you want to take a look... and possibly, I dunno, critique my attempts at this. I know I have a lot of room for improvement, but I guess I have to keep at it since my hearts set on it. It's a shame I don't find as many people interested in this period of history as much as I think there should be.

Wow - this kind of style is new to me.
Very interesting images. The stuff on your site is also quite cool.

That's a very nice style, although some of the poses and anatomy look a tad awkward or stiff, and the more obvious anime/manga influences in some of the faces bother me a bit, makes what is otherwise a pretty strong, personal look more generic. I hope the story will match up to the visuals...

As already mentioned the anime portions dont fit well. Most of the images are not anime but then you have some that are and that takes you out of your style.

I personally like anime style. But there are so many people you have done with out it, like the guy siting with the lion, or the one holding a goat, carrying grain. Stick with that style.

I think it mostly comes down to hair style and eye size/shape.

I was a rather large anime fan in highschool, and after I initially discarded it to try and attempt to learn true anatomy, etc. I revisted anime to try and make an amalgamation of the two, in hopes that I could take the best of each. Because well, I do like a subtle hint of anime style to it. But I understand what you all are saying about the different styles not fitting together, as if they are done in two different ways, but this is because the art is still developing. Plus, I want to add that some anime styles don't project as many big eyes and such as others. Hopefully soon I will find a balance.

I have some of the story written down on my website, but alas, the beginnings aren't near as interesting as what I actually have planned for the kickers later on. Anyone who is interested in esoteric philosophy and theology will most likely be attracted to this one.[/i]

I agree that the anime stuff does not fit in well yet, but I think the pictures that are not , are awesome.
