edited edit: newest version is a few posts down.
edit: updated, but still not done
old version (3 mb, really rough)
Haven't posted any music in a while because . . . well, I haven't made much music for the past few months. I recently quit some freelance art stuff though, so I've got more time to make tunes now.
Sometimes you've got to make space for the frivolous stuff that keeps you sane.
I've still got a solo record coming out sometime in the next couple months. Will post a note when it's available. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint

Thanks Shizzy. Actually it's going to be a vinyl record, so you'll have to pirate it unless you've got a turntable.
I updated the link after working some more on the track on sunday. I'm pretty happy with the little sassy breakdown at 2:12. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

That break is awesomeness!
But i think you should keep some very mild "Ahh/Ohh" or some portamento synths very softly in the background (instead of complete silence). Or mild stabs... just an idea. |

balistic,nicely done!
from a musical standpoint,I have a crit...
your tonalities are all very consonant...the lack of dissonance creates a sort of floaty, directionless melody.
I feel to have a strong melody, you need to have some tension and release,a good combination of consonance/dissonance.
but that could be exactly what you wanted...so its really just personal preference i guess...just something I always look for in music.
anyway,sounds good! |

Good stuff--some nice pad sounds there.
I think it might have too steady of a 4/4 thump feel--I personally love more of a breakbeat/groove feel instead of a 4/4 pulse. It's just a personal preference though. |

Thanks for the feedback guys, I've taken it into consideration and worked a little more on the track. At one point it was up to 6:30 but I chopped it back to about 5 flat. I also got rid of the clap on the 1 and 3, and added some more variation to the bassline, as well as a new funky synth part to break the monotony a little.

Definitely better.
How about some synthetic percussions? Run some filter sweeps and delays on them--would be kinda cool. I can almost hear a bit of vocoded or voxy type of melody line during the busier parts too. |
