Hey guys,
I'm entering for a scholarship and needed your input on what you think is my best work. They allow the digital medium, so that's a plus. So, I just wanted some help choosing out my best works in your opinion.
Here's some of my work that I think is my best. Let me know if you think so also. You can go through http://www.annis-naeem.com/ and name other works also.
Finished/professional works:
1
2
3
4
5
speeds:
6
7
8
9
10
11
12
13

The one that stands out to me most is the speedpaint of the sunrise where the golden light is just starting to relfect of the top sides of the mountains. The texture is excellent for both the snow and the mountain rock...I dont' know if they actually glow yellow like that, but the warm spot in the middle with all the cooler colors and mountain snow around is a superb contrast.
I realize you need more than one, but that's my pick for the first one to enter for sure
(though I'm not a pro like you or the others in this forum, so remember it's just my 2 cents, don't take it too seriously...) |

Here are my favourites:
8: Wow! I haven't seen that painting before... The texture on the ground is excellent as well as the lighting.
10: I like really the hard contrast between warm and cold (as sampster said).
12: The variation between hard and soft edges in this one is very eyecatching. The coulours are also nice and with these persons in the snow one get also an impression about the scale (which I believe is important).
By the way, the matte painting with the snowy mountains (on your website) is beautiful.
Hope I could help a bit. Good look! |

Very nice images Annis! What kind of scholarship is this?
Maybe they want to see some different stuff too?
You might include some digital Portraits or just non environmental pictures and some traditional work also.
Anyway, I'd take: 1 2 3 4 6 7 8 9 10 12 [ #11 doesn't show up for me] EDIT: now it does! Good one! I'd take it in too!
Technically they have the same solid quality which is good and shows confidence in your work.
It might be just my taste to choose these,...
9 is my top favourite! It has a very cool feeling to it!
Anyway, good luck! Hope you make it!
Oh, found this pic on your page, you could take this one too maybe: CITY

I'd leave 3 4 5 and 7 out
3 is very vertical-horizontal and generally boring with nothing going on.
4 is the same of nothing going on and it has a certain pattern in there which works against the image
5 has some beautiful clouds on the right top corner but the focus circle, light and two dots (figures) are symmetrical and boring
7 is again just some blocks of colour with texture attached to them with major vertical-horizontal lines again. |

In my opinion, 13 is head and shoulders above the rest.
I don't mean to be at all rude, but almost every single painting involves a mountain. I think you may want to vary your subject matter a bit. |

Sampster> thanks . I'm not a pro. Just a student/hobbyist at the moment.
Gizmodus> thanks. I appreciate it. yeah, i don't think i submitted that in the sp thread. forgot to submit it, perhaps.
max> thanks. you're right. i'm doing some stuff now that's traditional and will add it . thanks alot!
Neff> thanks
Kinnas> thanks. good eye. i agree.
kimchi> you're perfectly correct. That's why I've broken away from 'land' environments and have turned toward architecture/mechanical things. _________________ http://www.annisnaeem.blogspot.com/ |

I don't think you will have any trouble getting into that school. Very poetic and harmonic and original compositions! I love them.
If you are going to leave three out definatly leave 11 as it looks amatour ish and then 3 and 4. |
