The lighting of the sceen looks very much like day-light, thats nice..
One thing though, the sky seems to be a bit off-angle, if you see what I mean..

One post?
This is too good of a landscape for one post.
I had to do a 3d landscape flyby for a job once. I worked on it for a month and it didn't look half as good as this. I kept running out of rendering time and I was using every machine in the studio! The polycount was through the roof! LOL
Those were some looooong nights at work let me tell you.
The variation in the ground shapes and textures are very nice. You could add some more color variation though. Everything looks yellowish to me. Maybe some brown patches in the fields or something would help? The highlights are blown out too.
It might be my monitor though. I just got a new one and haven't messed with it too much yet.
The only problem I see is with the horizon. From this vantage point we would see a lot more land going off into the distance. It appears to just stop and fall off the edge of the earth if you know what I mean. The large triangular mountain in the center doesn't help that any either. Tone it down a bit to blend it in with the rest of the ground.
There are some vertically stretched textures on the right side of the horizon also.
The water looks good but not quite right. I don't know how to change it as I have always failed miserablly in the past when I had to create 3d water. You've got the gradient reflection which is nice and the disturbace at the shoreline but there is still something... I don't know...sorry.
I found that adding some distance haze made ALL the difference in the world. It really pushes the depth idea.
I just went back and realised that this is a section of the landscape. Is that correct?
Sounds like it's going to be huge.
All in all I'd say it is very nice.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of it. |

Ok, this is Alex again. I am kinda bringing this post back from the dead.
I ended the short film succesfully two years ago and it enjoyed quite some repercussion here in my homeland Spain.
The work, which was shot with the Panasonic DVX100, features a lot of visual effects done by me. Some of them are better than others but IMO the 3D flight went well enough: hope you enjoy it:

wow... nice, the transition... I almost thought that guy was a 3D model
I like the look of the film, did it win some award? Is there a version with subtitles? I have no idea what's going on, but looks like a nice twist in there. _________________ Derelict Studios|Godwin's Space |
