This is my first time painting anything. I am coloring (more like shading) an inked drawing I did a few weeks ago and need a little advice or painting in general. I'm doing it in greyscale for now. Any comments are appreciated. I'd like to get really good with painting on the comp so please tell me what I need to fix and change with this picture.

The pic is still no where near being finished yet. I also plan on smudging in the ink lines in with the color once I get nearly completed.

Hmm. That looks like the alien cruisers from Halo 2.

I hate it when people say. "That look exactly the ... from ..."
Especially when I haven't ever even seen that ...
Though I haven't played Halo 2 either (isn't it a game?) so I don't really know that does it look like it.

There are so many different designs for ships, guns, characters, etc in the sci_fi and fantasy community it's impossible to create something that doesn't look similar to something else. I came up with the design after look at an Egyptian head peice.

So can I get an real advice?
