I've just been informed about this super ultra uber deluxe gold toy from wacom, holy moly! this thing is a 3000dollar way of totally ruining my workflow and all that I've learned to do automatically with the keyboard and stuff but its soo nice! please let me know what you think of this baby, and if you've tried it, what are your thoughts about it?

J

I haven't tried one... but there has been quite a bit of discussion about it on the forum... You should do a search.

Also, keep in mind it is not a stand alone device. It does need to be attached to a computer just like its tablet cousin.

My sense is that I would prefer using a tablet... but I would like to get ahold of one to play with for a while...

Thanx eyewoo and Bob, tho that other thread only shows some pics an, well yeah a bit of info, but it seems as if its all about the OLD cintiq, not the new designs that are intuos3 compatible.

What happens to the surface to a cintiq when u've used it for a year? my Intuos'es have become scratched and have kinda "peeled" look on them. it would be very depressing getting this on the Cintiq, also, Is tha hand in the way? with a normal wacom tablet, u only have a crosshair, wich is good, but is it worth the "non exactness" of your strokes? I always undo 2 or 3 srokes if they have to be good, maybe this is not necessecary with the cintiq?, cant find it anywhere here in sweden to try out, Sad

oy, capt'n

old Cintiq user here. I got mine in april or may 2002. It has been my workhorse for the better part of the time since, and my screen is still in awesome shape. I can't imagine that the new version would be any worse. At my day job I have used an intuous 2 for a couple of years, and it's got that same scratched up look you describe, tho maybe not as bad. For some strange reason, my Cintiq's surface seems a hell of a lot more durable than my Intous's.

Hand in the way - yes it is. Does increased stroke control make up for this? - on the old Cintig, it is my opinion that it does not. After years of using both, I think that I prefer the intuous. The (old) Cintiq digitiser it too low res, so you have to 'slash' your strokes to get a smooth line. However, the new Cintiq should fix this - it has 10 times the spatial resolution. I'm guessing this is enough to give me the stroke control I need. Will it be enough to compensate for having my hand in the way? I dunno.

I'm ordering one soon. I'll post a review once I get it up and running.

Cheers

john, john, john.. change the stylus tip more often u lazy boy! Smile

the reason it becomes scratched is because the tip wears away and leaves a sharp point that will scratch the surface of the tablet..

Thanx for the great info YVerloc! I really look forward reading your review! the ones on the net feel like only wacom employees wrote them hehe.

Bob: DOH! ive never ever changed my wacom pen tip, found some while sorting stuff today, I'll put a new one in now so I won't get more of the scratches, thanx!
