My backgroud is bsc in computer science. what do you advice me to do to get this portofolio in a very short time ? are there one year or two years programs that helps me to get prepared my portfolio so that i can get admission to the university .. please help ...

/ university of california, usa portofolio requirement .../
Portfolio. We highly recommend a digital portfolio. This can include artwork, drawings, paintings, character designs, sketches, computer graphics etc. in digital format on a CD. We also recommend any animation/film work on VHS tape or DVD.

thanks.

So it seems you don't have any art experience, have a degree in computer science and now want to get a portfolio ready to get into an visual arts program? I'm not sure why but something about that irritates me, don't take it personally. I'm not sure what I can say besides start practicing. Get into some drawing classes, take some fine art courses. Build up some basic knowledge. I'm sure since you're trying to get into a state college you would need a pretty solid portfolio. I'm really not sure how fast you could get a nice one put together, it depends how good you are. Some people take years to build up a decent portfolio. Maybe you have the talent to to it faster, who knows?

You say "a short time," and yet you also say you'd like to spend a year or two (in a program) just getting your portfolio ready?

What do you want to do with your Masters degree?

If it's something artistic, like painting or animation -- you should by now have a sense of what kind of things belong in your portfolio.

Are you mainly interested in programming for computer graphics? Maybe you should write a simple ray tracer -- something along those lines -- build on your base in computer science.
