Hello, I'm making a book about design sketches for industrial designers, or atleast people studying or applying to design schools. As it will be sold via a web page I will probably try to plug the book in an unobtrusivehere here once its printed Razz (late july or august)

Anyway, in the first chapter basic stuff like mediums and techniques used, perspective theory, shadows etc. are covered very briefly. There will be a short text about digital software, such as Painter and Photoshop, describing the advantages and disadvantages (if there are any) Here's the text as it is right now:

"Digital media:
Digital software is often used in combination with a wacom board and pen, since normal mice doesnt give the same accurate control as a pen. While working digitally you can avoid many of the limitations of traditial media, for example working in layers and reworking part of the sketch indefinitely, with no fear of messing up. Working digitally you are also not limited when it comes to which colours you can choose from, and with programs such as Photoshop and Painter it is also possible to create your own brushes."

Please disregard spelling and grammar, it will be checked by a few native english speakers to make it sound professional.

I would be most grateful for any comments on on what could be mentioned about the digital media!

Hmm, tough call there, these links contain a bit of history, possibly with some good content that can be browsed. Are you getting any money from Wacom for mentioning them as the prime tablet company (although most of us maybe know in our hearts that they are)? Smile

Maybe you could be a bit more specific about details like "creating your own brushes"? I'm not too sure that part of the section would serve much of a purpose if a traditionl painter, who has never used painter, photoshop or any other digital tools before, would read that. I'm not saying you should write a thorough tutorial on how to make brushes, but maybe you could mention that rasterized images are often used, and that settings such as size, stroke opacity and textures can be customly added by the brush maker.

By the way, RPGStash sounds familiar. You don't happen to know a programmer with the alias Trojan, do you?
