Scenes from Asimov's Caves of Steel.
I think the car one is a bit unloved - if not a complete dead end - but that's the price to pay for bad time-management.
After hassling the guy unkindly, the prints came out great, though in my last minute haste of getting them printed I forgot about something called money. yeesh!

these are cool capt! i really like the way you handle them like scenes from movie, not the typical 'concept art' type enviroments.
btw, did you do these for class? if so, it seems like a really fun class! |

These look great Fred, really like the way the canteen came out.
The lighting on all of them is cool too. That city scape - very cool |

thanks peeps :)
Popeye: I've been doing a one-year 'art & design foundation' course, Don't know if you have them in the US. Over here they're for bridging the gap between A-Level Art (highschool?) and Uni. Uni's like em basically. Unfortunately, for a whole host of reasons all of which were my fault, I found the course to be a generally negative experience. Only in the last few weeks of the year did i being to 'get it'. The final project brief we write ourselves.
it's one of those 'no teaching: learn it yourself. nothing provided' schools instead of 'listen close and you will learn'. the former wasn't what I was looking for at the time, but it was free for under 19s, so i can hardly complain. |

I really like these.
Good job on them all.
Especially like the car picture.
I love when you actually can see something behind glass that recieves outer reflections. _________________ Fru Tina Kttet |

Fuck foundation courses! I was on one years ago, and I learnt next nothing. Judging by these pieces, you've bypassed your tutors words of wisdom, and just got stuck in.
They're all superb.

Yeah, but you needed to do one (foundation course) if you wanted to go on and do different courses, or that's how it was in my day.
At least they didn't interfere to much - my foundation course was more of the tutor's taste then anything else. |

sukhoi, watmough, mister pudding, thanks!
Yeah, as badly as foundation courses are unanimously appraised (something I only discovered after I was on the course), I can only blame myself for the way I handled and misunderstood it. As little as I learnt about art, I learned a lot of myself.
self crit:
I have to say I prefer the expressway (first) pic to the canteen one.
To me the first one has more robust feeling, feels like handling a well weighted toddlers' toy or a thick mug whereas the canteen one is more ethereal reminds of the sensation of feeling slightly sick. The car one is a real non-event, and the city one was a gas though is perhaps slightly unbalanced in scale. |

Really great work!
Especially the second one is dope! This is really Mullins-Quality - and i really mean it!
And it improved alot as i can say by taking a look at those wip's.
The first one is very nice, too - the "movement" of the guy is really perceptible - i think the key to this is the composition is falling a bit to the right. But i think the values (especially in the face) aren't as perfect as you nailed them in the second piece. I guess you hurried the first one a bit?
The one with the car is the worst of those pictures - i'd like to say, nothing but a very nice speedy.
The last one is a great shot - and especially those "humans on the ground" are great - it works as simple as it is!
Something disturbs me about the perspective, espeically the right buildings one.
Nonetheless, really fantastic piece, and the buildings make me think you've studied Mullins FinalFantasy-Artworks as much as i do!? ;D
Im going forward to see your next work! Hope i don't have to wait as long ... _________________ Lars Gtze
