The new chapter of Alpha Shade has started. New characters, new world... it starts off with Laura being part of a college Women's Gymnastics team before a meet.
One of the major differences between this chapter and last is how we draw the hair. Instead of using black outlines we're going for a softer look, using slightly darker hair color for outlines.
If anyone's going to Anime Centeral in Chicago next weekend, stop by our booth and say HI. The same goes for Dallas at A-kon in June.

The center frame took way too long to finish...

Haven't read the comics, but I like the work displayed. I know there's a limit to how much effort you're able to put into each image, due to deadlines and such. I see that the style is consistent. Is it released in japan as well? I'm asking since there's a lot of manga in your style. |

This is the last page of the scene. I think over all the 5 pages flow pretty well.

Hehe, that's a cool twist. I like it. Nice viewpoints and camera angles in your comics, nice job man! Perhaps I'll see if I can find your books in one of the local bookstores... |

In the last page, I wanted to pull out a bit to show the computer set up and introduce the two new characters. Doing a floor plan of the first floor of the house was very helpful.

One more page and we'll hit 100. The next page also introduces the last of the "Six friends". This page is almost all done in flash. The only Photoshop element is the exhaust of the car in the last frame. Creating maps of both the inside and outside of the house was very helpful.

We've finally made it to 100 pages. Also page 100 introducted the last of the "Six Friends". I think there are some cool lighting effects in these pages. After chapter one, we were hoping to get away from "Orange" but that's the color of street lights...

I think Molly well become a pretty popular character. The lighting effects turned out pretty well on this page. The cat is actually based on one of my cat Jewel.

I wanted to work on some lighting issues on this page and keep the backgrounds from intruding on the characters.

Page 103.
I wanted to get in a bit of exposition while a few other things were going on. How the Molly character ties in with the rest of them, her nerviness about Nick's driving, and Noticing the menacing figures at the side of the road. The beat up station wagon has developed a personality as well.
