The story, as mentioned in the book, is like a parallel to European activity in the Middle East during WW1 if you consider the existing dynsastic emprires at the time who ruled the Middle East as a sub for the Padua Empire used in the book. Frank Herbert was older when he wrote the book in the early '50s, so he probably served in the region while in the British military. This stuff is mostly irrelevent, but it does add extra context to help you better consider the full implacations and thoughts behind the story so that you may better portray as the characters as they might have been envisioned by the author. _________________ http://prettydiff.com/ |
