Hello.I'm new here,so please forgive my ignorance.
Can anyone, please, point me in the right direction for good face drawing tutorials.I am particularly interested in various realistic comic book styles, such as Top Cow,Avengelyne,Frank Frazetta,Vallejo, etc.ealistic, but nothing too complicated, mainly pencil sketcking. It seems that these people are either very hard to find-online,or,they don't want to give any secets away. Can anyone please help? |

In my experience, finding drawing tutorials online is pretty much imposible, most artists done seem to want to share their "secrets", the only exception is manga drawing but that is such a stylized and simple style that most experienced artists manage on their second try (and hence those tutorials you find is rather crapy, by newbs for newbs) but if im wrong id love to update my bookmarks ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) _________________ DeadbeaT was here |

I think most decent comic book artists actually study anatomy to learn how to draw the body parts properly. There's a good book by Ron Tiner called Figure Drawing Without a Model which would help you quite a bit, explains the theory behind drawing bodies, would be ideal for you. |

I think the way to learn the human face is not to learn w/ the idea of a certain drawing style. Meaning don't learn how to draw comic faces, learn to how to draw faces as they really appear. As you progress and get better, then try to apply different styles. A decent site I read through when starting off is
http://www.portrait-artist.org/face/index.html
Hope this helps. Good luck. |
