Hi!
I've been watching this forum for quite some time now and I must say that everything I've seen so far is great!
I'm not an artist - I've graduated from computer sciences at the university and now I'm a programmer. I'm very interested in game development end demo scene and this is what brought me to digital art and this forum.
Well, after reading the posts on this forum for a time I got inspired and decided to buy a Wacom tablet(6x8).
Well, here's my first pic done with Wacom and Photoshop(Xoom - sorry ): http://members.xoom.com/creatureart/indysmall.htm
Warning: The pic is 135k, so it will take a few moments to load...
Well, I would appreciate any feedback.
The Dr. Jones pic is not finished yet and I used a photo of Indy on a magazine cover as a reference. I don't know how to 'paint from my mind' yet - I must learn a lot more on human anatomy, shading and other stuff like that...

man, your artwork is excellent
your skills are really good!
Even though you may have used a magazine
as a reference, you know your colour values, and the shading is great!
The face looks real man!
holy batman
make some more work!

Welcome Creature,
Much like yourself, even though I'm concentrating on a different field, reading this forum also inspired me to get myself a wacom tablet and get into digital art. Oddly enough my first test was also a pic of good ole' Indy (yours looks holy-way-better, excellent work). Keep it up..

Well, seeing as I just registered, I don't really know if I'm "qualified" to critique other people's artwork yet, but oh well.
I really like your picture, Creature. It almost looks as though you used Lightwave or Maya to create it .You've really got your color and shading down, as well as depth and highlights. Like Jess, I really like the facial hair, as it adds a great dimension to the entire picture. Also, the skin texture is Very well drawn.
Great job, and I hope to see more of your work!

Wow, Creature this looks nice.
You sure you are not bullshitting about this being your first tablet pic? =))))
Anyways, looks very very very nice, I don't have anything negative to say about it.

yay! Indiana Jones! Harrison Ford is the man!
I love your pic SO much! It's one of the best images I've seen for a while. Great subject matter, and your painting skills are excellent!
Plus, seeing a well done portrait never fails to amaze me! I find it so hard to do portraits. Great work and please post here more!

Wow!
Thanx guys for the encouragement. I'm getting very embarassed...
And no, I'm not bullshitting about this being my first tablet pic... I got my Wacom about 2 weeks ago and last week I started working on the Indy pic(which took me about 15h to finish).
I did some pixel art with mouse a few years ago (320x200 pics in 256 colors with Animator pro). Then I went into some low-poly modelling and texturing for a game(this is when I first met The Photoshop ). Unfortunatelly all I did was quite crappy.
And then I saw Dhab's art(from that moment on I can't really control my lower yaw) and visited this forum. I went trough all the tutorials that I found interesting(derPunkt - your's on 3dpalette is one of the best) and have learned a lot.
Thanx again,
Creature

James:
No, I didn't work over a scan. I just looked at the magazine cover very closely for details and how the light was falling on the face, hat and the neck(my eyes are still hurting ). And my pic is a little different from the photo.

Whoa! That's a real stuff!
Bah, you da cool dude. I like this picture - hehe i wanted to do a Indy pic too, but now you beat me ! I can only suggest you to clean_up/fix some areas and make a whole image a bit sharper.
What do you say? Animator Pro??? Whoa! It was my first step into the digital realm! I've done with it a lot of stuff - from sprites for games to intro flicks. Damn, it was a good time... oh well, i'm looking for to see more from you.
