A new one I just finished--it was supposed to be done by Christmas, so it's very late. I'm getting caught up with all the work I'm behind on at the moment. The summer weather is bringing me back from the dead!
I was having trouble with the colours. Blue hurts my eyes (and my brain). It makes it hard to judge values. But I finally finished anyway. All's well that ends well! _________________ Dignity isn't important. It's everything.

I think this may be some of your best work Socar. The composition and distribution of values is very nice . . . love the curve of that tree.
Just lovely. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

Love the composition... swirling around the dog. He (or she) looks a bit apprehensive, but ready to take on what comes along. Wonderful portrait of a beautiful animal. _________________ HonePie.com

This painting personifies what you are known for as an artist, in my opinion. The beautifully colorful background of few hues that is expanded by many fancy brush strokes and highlighted by use of colorful greys. The other is your ability to paint realistic furs as a texture and in reaction to lighting. You exceeded in both of these qualities.
I do have a problem with this image, however. The dog does not really seem to work with the background. The dog is sharply painted in detail and in an actionable pose. I do love that pose, by the way. The background is painted in an expressionist manner rather than for intiment details. Also the colors of the background and the dog seem to not mix for the same reason. The dog is well defined in detail with natural colors enhanced by great shading. The background seems to be painted in a purple hue like a fantasy and enhanced through a highly refined use of colorful greys.
I could also be wrong. I need to study this more and maybe I will come to a different conclusion. You also painted this at a far higher resolution and maybe it does not look right to me as a reduced image for the web.
Damn, I so love your texture brush work to create the soft leaves in the background. Soft and happy texture. _________________ http://prettydiff.com/ |
