I just bought a wacom tablet... I tried it and this is the result...

Do someone know some place where I could learn techniques for wacom tablet?

C&C are welcome!

a lot of people have success using traditional techniques, though regretfully I can't help you much there.
I not one of those guys with tonnes of links to give you, but, i reckon here is a pretty good place to pick up some knowledge, for the painting/illustration style you're going for.

I'd suggest do 10 or 20 more practises and then post them here and let people respond to you on points of technique and so forth.

Certainly one of the things I am learning, is not to drop something or move on, before it looks generally right. Sometimes I spend an hour without progressing the image, just pushing colours around with a big fat brush, until I am happy that it looks convincing. The more time you spend earlier on, the less pain later on, it would seem.

Good Advice fred. I would recommend using larger brushes to get a simple form and light source working then detail in... but i'm rather n00bish still, but thats what I seem to keep hearing.

I think Capt. Fred and The Real Mark are correct. While i've not much experience with tablets, i would assume generally the process is similar to traditional art forms, use larger, softer brushes first to rough in all your shapes, colors and values, then go back in with gradually finer brushes to bring out the detail and character of the work. And also just like Capt Fred suggested, practice makes perfect, work on one or two a day and gradually you'll refine your own technique and make it work to give your images justice.

Keep up the good work!

Have you seen Yanick Dusseault's DVD's. Dusso is a digital matte artist and has put together a couple of DVD'd through the Gnomon workshop. In his first DVD he shows how he begins a digital painting by blocking in and then adding detail.

Definitely worth a look

We all have our own opinions I guess. But the DVD's were not designed to create lemmings. a true artist should learn to create their own techniques. Yanicks DVD's show alot if your paying attention. People have commented that Yanick didn't show the brushes he used, but he only uses the stock photoshop brushes anyway.

I have spoken to Yanick about his DVD's and he said that they were designed to help beginers understand blocking in and creating colour pallets, I believe he does this very well... As for price, I think its quite reasonable, considering he is without a doubt one of the best matte painters in the world.

at the end of the day... you only get out what you want to. Me, I learn something new every time I watch them.

Hey Sebastian,

Good work, I am just starting as well. I would say to work on blending a bit more along the edges, for more suttle shadings and changes. Focus on details and keep working with the wacom. Your doing good so far.

On the side note as for links, I have a ton of them. I have articles I can e-mail you, links to send, whatever you want my friend. Let me know if your interested.
