hi folks.
not a speedpainting, not a finished work, not a work in progress (I don't think I'll be doing anything with it anytime soon).
Bits I like: Guys T-shirt; Girls Hip. Bits I don't: Guys face; Wall and bush on top need to go darker; Brief case. The lion's share falls to indifference.
Why is it that my heads appear to be dismembered from the bodies, and the faces don't fit the head? Maybe I need to figure out the skeleton and the tendons and whatnot underneath.
personally i think I like the separation of the background and the foreground 2 characters, but it occurs to me now that it might just look 'wrong'.
Criticism/paintover/whatever, go wild!

A nice atmosphere you have here.
Crits: Girl's head way too big. Guy seems to be missing his neck and he doesn't look fat, but stiff. Like the body is too big and squeezed in y-axis when compared to his arms. Damn, I wish I had time to do an overpaint, feels like bitching to comment this way. And the guys shirt looks a bit too saturated in comparison to rest of the scene.
Anyways, looking good! |

thanks for da crit.
head to big? Proabably. Even if you forget the hair? maybe her far arm needs to go longer, to make her look taller/larger.
the guy with no neck shouldn't look fat, his t-shirt stomach-side is supposed to be hanging loose, front/stomach curved under his back. ideas on how to get the t-shirt to look like it swooshing empty instead'f covering a big gut? maybe reconsider those creases. I won't turn this into a WIP though, i think it'll stay in storage for a while longer.
It genuinley wasn't my intention to refute all of your criticisms, I really appreciate them! But a lot of things which you criticise, I happen to be fond of, like the very intense blue of his t-shirt and the extreme proportions of his pose. I go with the girl's too big head though. |

Hmm.. I played with pixel aspect ratio in PS. It seems that my Samsung Syncmaster did it again. It's native aspect ratio is wrong, because the only resolution that works well is 1280*1024 (it should be 960 but that rez isn't properly supported) and on CRT that's not square pixels you see.
The things I complained about are strongly affected by this compression in vertical pixels. I took the image to PS and changed the AR to 0,9 and it looks so much more natural.. Which reminds me that everything I do is basically vertically stretched when viewed on a proper monitor...
Keep up and forget my crits. Except for the shirt |

watmough, acknowledged. I've done it before too. I'll try to restrain myself in the future! |

see: have you got him standing pretty much upright?
nothing wrong with that but given his size and position it feels like his feet are underground now. i like the improvements on the hand, feels more natural, get a feel for the swing and momentum. thanks! |

im just thinking you shouldn't really be seeing the full head of the guy closest in that position, the shoulder should be covering his face up to the chin or so?
especially in the unedited version, that hunchback really bothers me _________________ Derelict Studios|Godwin's Space |
